Comparison What to buy?

   / What to buy? #21
I read it here somewhere from another member that Kubota were customers of Daedong. But it may simply be speculation of for what but he felt it might be engine blocks or some such. Does Kubota own an engine block foundry?

Kubota has 40,000 employees worldwide.

Kubota has every kind of manufacturing plant imaginable, spread around the globe.

It a fairly specialized company; 87% machinery, according to Kubota's 2017 annual report.

You can buy Kubota stock on the NYSE, symbol: KUBTY.

Kubota Corporation (株式会社クボタ Kabushiki-kaisha Kubota) is a tractor and heavy equipment manufacturer based in Osaka, Japan. Kubota was established in 1890.

The company produces many products including tractors and agricultural equipment, engines, construction equipment, vending machines, pipe, valves, cast metal, pumps and equipment for water purification, sewage treatment and air conditioning.

Kubota engines are in both diesel and gasoline or spark ignition forms, ranging from the tiny 0.276 liter engine to 6.1 liter engine, in both air-cooled and-liquid cooled designs, naturally-aspirated and forced induction. Cylinder configurations are from single cylinder to inline six cylinders, with single cylinder to four cylinder are the most common. Those engines are widely used in agricultural equipment, construction equipment, tractors, and marine propulsion.

The company is listed on the first section of Tokyo Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the TOPIX 100[5] and Nikkei 225[6]

Does Kubota own an engine block foundry? Or if not who casts their stuff? That might shed some light to look that way and eliminate this rumor. Otherwise its simply rumor and doesn't mean a thing. Interesting speculation though. Wouldn't matter to me one way or another. Im sure not every manufacturer makes 100% of its parts. But some do a lot more in house than others.

From The “other” Orange Tractor. Kioti. | OrangeTractorTalks
"In the early 1980s Kubota from Japan and Daedong from Korea teamed up to build what is known as the Kubota “02″ series of tractors, namely the L1802, L2002, L2402, L2602 and L2802. It was a joint venture with Daedong manufacturing the transmission and Kubota providing its experience with the engine mechanics and other components. Interestingly, Daedong provided the design and fabricated the body sheet metal for these tractors which gives them their own distinctive look – no other Kubota looks like these tractors do. Despite the team effort, the “02″ tractors are still largely Kubotas with exception of their transmissions which means many parts for them are still available today. Production of these tractors lasted from the early 1980s, peaked in 1983 and then tapered off." You can read the article at the above link.

In 2002, Kubota brought suit in US District Court in Fresno, CA against Daedong/Kioti and a particular Kioti dealer regarding trade infringement, based on the color and hood shape of Kioti tractors and the continuing propagation of stories that a relationship still existed between the two manufacturers. This suit was settled in 2004, with some undisclosed conditions. See the press release here:

Take a look at the Kioti CK4010/CK4010SE.
CK4:)SE HST | Kioti Tractors

33.5 PTO HP, weighs almost 3k# (+>900# for the FEL), and the FEL has a lift capacity of >1900#, and is roughly the same size as the Mahindra 2538. I'm about to pull the trigger on the CK3510SE HST (after also looking at Mahindra 1500s, the JD 2032r/2038r, and others), and was quoted $20,750 for the tractor and FEL (+$6k for the back hoe). The 'SE' version basically has almost all the options standard w/ an Independant PTO (vs. Live on the non-SE). I would've considered the CK2610, but wanted a bit more PTO HP (~28.5 on the 3510 vs. 19.5), and there was no SE for the 2610, so I would've paid a la carte for the options.

Not sure about brush hogging 3" trees with it, though I think it'll handle 2" with something like this 5' or 6' LandPride mower - RCF2:cool: & RCF272 Series Rotary Cutters | Land Pride. I don't expect to be doing much bush hogging, so I'll be getting a root grapple for my 35 and using my chainsaw and a chipper to deal with anything that looks like a real tree.

I'm new to this, and not an expert operating on hills, but if you feel you need the extra weight / size, the NX series start at 45hp (34 at the PTO) and are 1000# heavier and lift over 2700#, are 10" wider and almost 2' longer, but should still come out to <$30k.

The only problem with Kioti is not having many dealers around. I think there are 3 in the State. We have plenty of the John Deer, Kubota, New Holland, Branson and Mahindra dealers. I would have to travel a long distance for Kioti parts.

I order parts online regardless of brand.
I have a Kioti tractor, Hustler zero turn, Kawasaki motorcycle, Polaris side by side.
I have never gone to the dealer for any of the above for parts. Order online and they come right to my door in a few days.

As Mahindra 2600 series is made by TYM in Korea, painted Mahindra colors, I would question dealer very closely on this model. I speculate TYM/Mahindra 2600 series has DPF.

The difference between the TYM and the Mahindra branded machines though is that the TYM doesn't use the Mahindra engine. The TYM's use Yanmar engines with DPF in the 35 to 55 hp range.

My brother has a JD 45 HP with DPF that has been in the shop for emissions and emissions sensor issues no fewer than 6 times in the first 18 months he's owned it.

Kubota and Deere are number 1 and 2 in the US and Kubota is certainly known for their reliability. Mahindra is currently number 3 in the US but is number 1 in the world. Mahindra is gaining fast on Kubota and Deere in the US likely because of their quality, no DPF engine design, and customer support. The Mahindra also has a standard 7 year powertrain warranty.

Most important is dealer support. I have 5 Mahindra dealers within an hour of me. Picked the one I liked the most and bought the machine from them. The lack of DPF on the Mahindra was a major selling point not to mention the comparable HP tractors are heavier and can lift way more than the Kubota and the Deere. Kioti was the only one that was close when I was doing my comparisons and they were my second choice but lack of dealers close by and the DPF turned me off from them.

I'd be interested to know if there is any kind of Kioti-Kubota connection. From my initial research I've found no evidence of this.

Kioti's are Korean Daedong's, and best I can tell Daedong does make the entire tractor, just like Kubota and Yanmar do in Japan. Kubota was founded in 1890, Yanmar in 1912, and Daedong in 1947.

I really dont know for certain. But I found the thread that was related to what was claimed and the links are in there. It will remain a mystery to some extent. But they both make a lot of their tractors and make good ones for sure

Follow those links if your interested. You'll see what I'm wondering about. This member brings up a very interesting current link between the two company's. I do not know if there is much more info than that which was posted already. Its interesting though. I don't care one way or another personally. But I'd actually be very surprised if both Kioti and Kubota doesn't outsource at least some of their parts. I'd expect both of them to make a large proportion of them in house but not all of them.

Before you decide, you should look at Branson. There are a few dealers close to you. I looked at all the colors two years ago when I bought mine. I am extremely happy with my 4520R. My local dealer is a piece of work but I can get parts and service from a few others in the area.

Why are you not fond of Kubota, if I might ask? They seem like a decent tractor to me. I would have gone with theirs but the Branson deal was too good to miss.

I don't like the Pedal on the HST Kubota. I know a lot of people that own them but you just don't get as much for your money with kubota. I know a guy that owns a business cleaning out commercial chicken houses. He has skid steers, tractors etc. The Kubota's wouldn't hold up to the work. Sold them all and went to John Deere. Granted these are larger tractors than I am looking at. As far a service in my area. John Deere would be best but their small tractors have aluminum rear ends in them. I don't need that head ache. I'd bust it the first day. As far as Branson I know a dealer and he is putting me a package deal price together on a 4225h as I type.
