What to charge a neighbor for mowing?

I have no doubt that a professional lawn care company would charge her about $120 for this job and would want to do it every week. If she were to only let them do it every two weeks, the price would probably be more along the lines of $175.

My 87 year old grandmother, who lives about 4 hours away from me, was recently faced with a similar situation with mowing her two acres. She insisted on paying and was borderline offended when someone wanted to do it for nothing.

$60 should cover your fuel and wear and tear. If you are okay with that figure, and this lady were my grandma, I would be most grateful if you were to do it for that.

On other recent discussions it seem like $50-60 per hour to mow with the tractor.

I had a bid of $100 an hour for four men and a big chipper to do some clearing of trees growing in my road. This was in 2000.

I think you should take her $60 and do as you plan with the money. Ye reap the seeds you sow...

Her son rents most of the land, farmers take care of the "ag stuff", no need on my part.

Appreciate the replies, $60 seems fine, plus she likes my "payment plan" that she pays me when she wants, I don't keep track of it, and I have a "kitty" that I put that money into that I can figure out later.

Figure just cut her lawn, then "hide" so she can't pay me!

Just strange having to do hours upon hours of work around my house, then do some work around her house and I feel alot more better after I get the work done at her place than mine /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

She may be getting the mowing money from her son.. I would just take it....If you enjoy her company take her dinner now and then... if not just mow and take the money. Put the money in the bank for when ur old and u have to pay someone to mow for you.....
