Buying Advice What to pick 32 - 51Hp.......

   / What to pick 32 - 51Hp....... #11
The L5240 would be a very good choice, we bought a used 2003 L5030 HSTC with 735 hours last year and love it. I was initially concerned it might be a little too big, but I am glad I bought it. As some have said, a tractor sometimes seems to shrink after you buy it.

If you want to get rid of the house someone would probably take it down for the material.

I ended up buying today...... 2011 L4240 HSTC-3 4x4 Industrial Tires, deluxe sunshade, FEL LA854 with HD Quick Detach Bucket, 3rd function valve, 5' Rhino HD 260 Rotary cutter, 6' Woods HD box scraper, Construction Attachments Compact 72" Grapple, Woods Rear Quick Hitch. The grand total $33,000 at 0% for 5 years. Once I priced out the used stuff loaded with these implements with interest on a loan it was basically same price to go brand new route. Pics are before it's gets loaded up tomorrow.

Grill guard comes with FEL, at least mine did. Philip.

Good luck sleeping till you get delivery! Why the 5' bush hog? I pull a 6' bush hog behind my L3940 and would not want anything smaller than that. I finish mow 2.5 acres with a 6' RFM every other week. Once or twice a year I bush hog 15 acres with a 6' mower and it takes me a FULL day or two partial days. I would re-think that 5' bush hog. Philip.

Which dealer did you purchase from? I'm located in prairieville south of baton rouge. The kubota dealer here is ascension equipment. Just curious.

After owning a bx 18, 3130, and now the 5740, I can say that the extra horsepower is sooo nice. It makes blowing snow and pulling loads so much better. ONly downside is with the logsplitter. I use just a little more fuel. The tractor frame in the grands is pretty darn close through the whole line. I never once in my life said I wish I had less HP. The 3130 was a great tractor, but I just had to use low range alot when moving heavy loads in mud. Most of my clearing was in mud too. I mean two years of mud. I wish I had this 57 three years ago. I too was looking at a bigger tractor for quicker clearing but someone asked the question about what do you do with it when you are done clearing. That is what sold me on this tractor. May take just a little longer to clear, but maintaining will be much nicer. Also, the R4's dont tear up the grass as much as i thought they would. I think with turf tires I would pull my hair out unless all i did was cut grass.

Alaska, How do the r4's do in the snow and are they loaded? I am trying to pick between them and the Turfs ( which I have on my L4330 and love) for my new L5740 HTSC? How is the stability on slopes since the R4's are higher?

Thanks,
Boris1

The l3130 must have seemed like a real dog with a loader and BH? I just have the loader and wish I had another 10hp. Did you notice the size difference from the 3130 to you new one?
