What to use in Ballast box

Used to be a weightlifter, I just fill mine with iron plates. You can usually find people selling old weight sets pretty cheap on craigslist.

You could try filling it with rednecks; but that would only require a pinch or two since everyone knows rednecks are infinitely dense. I know that fer a fact since I sorta are one. ;)

Easiest way to catch 'em is to leave a case of beer in the bed of your truck. They'll jump in and stay in and all ya gotta do is replenish the beer.:D

Junk brake rotors are easy to come by. Heavy equipment places that do track rebuilds often have piles of junk pads they'll sell cheap. Junk man only gives them a few cents per pound. Both can be rack mounted or added to concrete. MikeD74T

Might not be such a good idea Mounted, I'm too likely to fall into my own trap that way. :)

i have mine filled with plan bricks so i dont think that's very heavy...but my question is How much is too much for the BB? (not the tractor) is there an amount of weight whereby you'll bend the posts? it seems on of my post is somewhat bent over the other...reading all the ways you guys fill, can we reck thing things?

I would say the stresses exerted on the pins on a ground-engaging implement are far, far greater that the stress of just the weight of a ballast box.

On my ballast box, the pins are pretty much the same as on an implement.

A back hoe makes the BEST counterweight. I can't think of anything else that you can adjust the weight from one side to the other for those "sidehill" moments....
When I do have my back-blade on (for snow clearing) I will often pull the lock pin (between snowfalls) so that when (not if) I do catch a fence post or cedar tree the blade will spin clear....

That's a mighty expensive ballast and, at $4000-$8000, beyond most folks means (considering the limited use most folks would have).
Also, having operated a backhoe (real one, not a CUT), they're pretty tippy...not what I'd want for rear ballast.
