What to use to lubricate 3PH ball ends?

My JD manual says use clean motor oil. Never did like that idea. Thoughts on this thread make more sense to me. I've just used WD-40, but it sounds like there's plenty of good alternatives.

I lubricate them once a year with standard grease. Someone mentioned that this helps trap dirt..and I guess it does...but it doesn't wash off as easily as something like WD-40 which would require me to lubricate monthly.

This is what I use.Its a heavy duty metal protector made by Amsoil.

Synco SuperLube aerosol is a synthetic base with Teflon added. It penetrates and sheds water for many weeks and will not harm paint or rubber. JD private labels the product now. Lowes is the cheapest place to purchase it; they sell a can for $2.99. I've been using Synco's aerosol, gel and grease for more than a decade and have been extremely pleased. SuperLube will not dissolve rust like PB Blaster or Kroil, but you can use those products first and wipe them off with a paper towel before applying SuperLube. Many other products would work, but I like the results.

After reading these posts I got to thinking. I had a can of something called a "high pressure" lubricant in my garage. Never really had a use for it. Took it out to the tractor and sprayed it on the balls. Looks like black paint. Doesn't penetrate like an oil would. I'll use it till gone then maybe switch to something else. The oil is kind of messy and attracts dirt.
