Here is the info that Deere supplies for their polyurea grease. Diesel, who published the chart you supplied? I am wondering who to believe. I have been using the polyurea grease for several years with no ill effects I am aware of.

The compatibility chart is published by Lubricants USA.

Mobil 1 Synthetic grease on my JD 3120 w/300CX FEL & 448 BH since new. The backhoe has many grease fittings to feed. No issues to date.

I buy a case of grease from the local auto parts store and use most of it between March and Nov. on my small low intensity farm.
It doesn't matter what you use, only that you use it often and use a lot. I grease every piece of equipment I use every day, especially during hay season.

Now I am concerned and confused. I have mixed grease on my loader pins. I had previously used regular lithium from Lowes. I only picked up the JD brand becasue I happened to be in the store. With small kids, I don't have a lot of time to take apart the mower deck and all pins to clean them. It sounds like we have mixed opinions here. What do I do?

Like some of the other posters, I've been using the JD polyurea stuff for a few years now in all my equipment. Some of it, I'm sure, had other types of grease in there originally. I haven't noticed any problems, but, then again, unless a red flag pops out, I doubt I'd notice. :(

It'd be a lot better if we knew for sure what the compatability problems actually are. Like, do two incompatables, say Ployurea and Lithium, when mixed, become corrosive, or what. Diesel, you seem up on such things - do you have any more info?

Well I did a little research. I read that the most commen problem with mixing greases is that they may become soft and therefore less effective, Suggested solution....grease more often to help replace the old grease with the new stuff.

I guess I have the feeling that none of us use our equipment hard enough to see the compatability problem with PU grease. How about if you have old equipment, just fill it with the PU grease until the green grease comes out, and relax? I'm sure many of us will do much worse things to our equipment than use some grease that the magic table says is incompatible.

Heck, I just greased my new/old loftness snowblower with polyurea grease, I'm sure it will fall apart next week due to grease incompatibility.

What does grease compatibility mean in real life. Basically the two different types mix together and you end up with a grease of greatly lower quality and as was mentioned it often thins out to a lower viscosity. The best thing to do is grease more frequently to try to purge out as much grease as you can.

I'm using the JD green Polyurea, with good results. Most of my issue is deciding when to go after a bulk loader. Between the 4in1 bucket, the 400 CX FEL and the 448 BackHoe, not to mention the tractor's fittings, I can burn through a lot of grease. It seems like a hundred fittings, but it is realy only about 50. :)

Some may say I over-lube. When in high school I worked on a large estate/campground/camp area that had a fair amount of equipment. I worked in the shop. Each operator was responsible to lube his equipment. I remember well, the well lubed equipment wasn't in the shop as much as the skimped stuffed, and when it was, it was much easier top work on. Seals for grease are made to give to vent, unlike oil seals, which are susposed to remain tight. Also grease has the job of flushing away contaminiates out of the joint.

I have some lube I use at work that is stable from -20 through 140 F with minimal viscosity change, I would switch to that except for the $250 /gallon price tag.
