my father has shredded a half dozen or so hats over the year with the flail mower and bushog, the flail usualy made them munched up the most but the bushog did a good job on them too. i remember one time he had his fairly new hat fall off and he stopped the tractor just as it went under the edge of the mower but then he heard a little wump as it was winding down, well luckly that time it just put about a two inch cut right into the center of the brim, but being a lithuanian he wouldnt throw it out and buy a new one so he wore that hat for another year or so with the brim split right in the middle

When I was in my late teens I was visiting an uncles farm in Northern Minnesota. It just so happened to be haying time and he was short handed. I offer to help bale but he said what he really needed was for someone to rake. Having never been on a tractor of that size, he gave me a few quick lessons and sent me on my way, with him and the baler right behind me. As I was going along it became very hot, so naturally I took my shirt off (see where I am going with this). When we finished the field and got back to the farm I realized that my shirt was gone. I went back to find it but it was gone. My uncle had a real good laugh over that. He said that I litteraly "Lost my shirt in farming" He even claimed that he saw one of the cows wearing it that winter /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif That is the first time that him and I really "connected". He's gone now, but everytime I take my shirt off on the tractor I think of him.

so far I lost 2 hats, a stump, (don't ask) and one front wheel UNDER the RFM. now that counts for 2 full sets of blades, (amazing how much damage a full wheel and yoke & shaft will do to the blades!) hit some 3/8" chain which was rigged with 2.5" pipe to make some sort of spreder too... not to mention a few critters I hate to think about now. got a good sizes snake this week actually... (he was a little worse for wear as I had roller on back of mower too!) Tried to stop for my hat once but I was on a down hill slide left big skid marks and still ate the hat dang was only about a week old. never did find the bill either! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

One gas cap for a riding mower, do you know how many times one of those can ricochet of the deck before disintegration?

I was using my brush hog to cut down the cattails and brush around my lake. I would back down into the water and lower it down and pull out. Then I went and mowed 6 acres of tall grass. When I came up to put the tractor away I noticed my drawbar was missing. I went and walked the 6 acre field twice as I was sure that the pin must have poped out on the bumps. walked around the lake and didn't find it so I just resigned that I would have to shell out 50 buck for a new one. Two days later I was walking by the lake and JUST happened to see about an inch of it sticking up in the weeds. What had happened is as I backed down into the water over the cattails they had pushed the pin out and when I when forward it pulled out. It only had one nick on it.
