What was that big WHOOMMP!! sound?

A couple years ago I was removing my 16 ft trailer from my truck. The trailer jack was broke so I used the jack that goes with my F350. Some weeks later I moved the trailer. The jack fell over in the grass and I forgot about it. That is till I hit it with the bush hog. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I can assure you....it didn't go WHOOMMP!!
Didn't hurt the bush hog at all, but the jack "gave up the ghost".

I was mowing the lawn, lawn that I had mowed many times before with no odd noises. Then, one day, I was in a hurry due to the fact it was the first day of bow season and I wanted to get back out in the woods, I heard a short gruump. I wondered what it was, looked around and saw nothing. The mower did such a good job of mulching up my fire pager that I had a hard time finding enough parts to show the chief so I could get a replacement. Now my pager stays on the counter while I mow. Probably would not be able to hear it anyway.

I was helping my neighbor with some hay. I was on the rake, he was baling, and one other neighbor was moving hay.

Somehow or another the tractor that was moving the hay managed to put the spike thru the arse end of the round baler!

Least it wasn't me.

My oops was when I was cutting broom sedge grass about 3-4 feet tall with a 6' Agri 72 rotary cutter.

I was getting along pretty good in about 5th gear with my M9000 Kubota just eating the crap out of the grass. Got about 1/3 of the way done with the field when I look back and notice the paint on the gearbox is smoking!

the paint wasnt smokin cause of too much work, its cause ya ran it low on oil or outa oil completly, thats why on our bushogs that leak oil we fill them with a mixture of grease and heavy oil, and even the ones that dont leak oil we put some grease in them so that if the seal gets damaged while mowing atleast there will still be some lube in there till we check it next

Ever watch the gas guys seal off a broken steel service line? They pound the end flat with two sledge hammers and weld it up with an oxy-acetylene torch, with the gas still coming out. The weldor is surrounded in flames. When all the flames die away, the seal is good. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I don't know what they do with plastic lines, probably somethingh boring.

I pulled a car off it's side and out of a ditch when I was driving a wrecker back in about '82 and a four inch gas main came out with it. I had the dispatcher call the gas company and they finally mosey'ed on out. They slapped four inch piping they had split in half over the busted main, stuck a couple of hose clamps on it and went on their way. It kind of blew my mind, in California, where I'm from, they would have evacuated half the town, had ten fire engines standing by, alerted the news media, who would have totally mangled the facts, and would have had twelve or fourteen supervisors around to supervise the five man crew who would have replaced the whole line. It taught me a lesson on the importance of some things. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
