Hi Guys,

It's no secret that TBN members are good at finding deals on pretty much everything. So I'm wondering... what was the best deal you ever found an attachment? Where did you find it? How much did you pay---or did somebody else score the deal just before you got there?

The deal I found wasn't on an attachment, but on a Power King 2416 tractor in fantastic shape.
It went for 700, but being an 'over the road' truck driver I missed the deal by 3 days.

It has to be my homemade drag. I think I've got $20 invested in it. That's for the chains, clevis' and bolts to pull it. The two sections of ornmental iron gate I used were thrown in with some other things from an auction we attended a few years back and had never used. It works great!

I use it to finish out the driveway after using my grading scraper, and may try it for overseeding this fall. Wish all my attachments worked that well and cost so little.

Actually, a few things. A Kubota 47" turf buster 3PT tiller, $550, would be close to $2500 new. Local buy and sell.

A Ford LGT 165 -$150. Cleaned the carb, eventually built a new drive over MMM for it, and got approximately 6 years out of it. Same local buy and sell.

A FREE MF industrial fork lift mast, complete with carrier and forks. FREE, off a scrap pile at one of the mills my Dad used to puck up at. :)

The best deal I ever found wasn't exactly on an attachment either, but I do carry my tractor on it! I found a 20' steal bed flatbed trailer with dove tail and ramps. it is a bumper pull with an adjustable Bull Dog 2 5/16" coupler. It has cross members on 12" centers and weighs 3020lbs empty with 2 7k axles. I had the trailer appraised for $3500-$4000 after I got it. I made a deal to trade a 16' utility trailer I had purchased new a year earlier. I figured I would be doing good to trade my trailer and give $1500-$2000, but the business that had it, and wanted my trailer, asked me if I would be willing to swap even up! I paused for a minute and said "yeah, I guess I could do that". I had given $825.00 for the utility trailer new! They did ask me to put new tires on mine, so I basically got a $4000 trailer for $1200.

My best one (not counting the VERY cheap home made stuff) was probabally My BushHog model 306 rotary cutter. It is an older one, but not totally beat up. $200

Best deal I got was on a Curtis FEL mount Snow Plow. Guy wanted $1800 for it, and I got it for $850! He let it go cheap because he was getting divorced and it was that much less cash that she would get!

Some others than me I know have done better, but off top of my head from what I can remember:
These are some attachments I've bought.

"New from HF cat #2 quick attach" for $106 otd.
7' Rhino heavy rear blade w/manual angle and tilt from CL for $200.
Simco 5 1/2 foot square tube disc harrow with 7' boxblade both slightly used $800 for pair also from CL.
New RB series rear blade 5' for sub compact tractors $150.
New 6' KK rake for $245.

Probably the best deal we have gotten was a 60" rough cut mower that we got last year. We paid $75 for it, it needed some work done to it (sides were rusted out) which the metal-working shop across the road did in exchange for me mowing their fields twice (~6 hours the first time and 3 the second).

Runners up would include:
3 bottom trailer plow with hydraulic lift for $500
GT3200 with 60" mower, 45" 2 stage blower, 54" manual angle blade and a change of hydro oil for $3770

"My" Tiller. My best bud asked what I needed for the tractor to put in food plots on his hunting land. I said either a tiller or plow and disk. He said lets go to the tractor dealer and see what they have. He decided on a tiller and asked what size was right for my tractor and bought it. It lives at our house.

Same buddy wanted to buy a tractor for his hunting property. I said man, that is crazy, you only use the thing two weeks or less a year. Let me know when you want it and I will bring mine there (about thirty miles) I figure vandals, time, bad fuel, sitting would drive him nuts with maintenance. He says OK, but a Bobcat is different than a tractor right and does different things? I said yes, similar but different, shines in different areas. Asks if I would use a Bobcat (wife is a landscaper) so he said when I saw one I thought was a good deal let him know. About a month later we found Bob and he bought it. Yes, lives at my house.

Might even be better in some ways, but SWMBO told our buddy (fellow landscaper) we wanted a pond in the front yard. Little while later he shows up with Cat 953C trackavator and we play in the yard and dig a pond over the next 6 months or so. Much of the time with him lending a hand and operating. :)

Choosing good friends is the best deal I ever made. :)
