Nothing went wrong !

Had a JD 3320 without a cab and wanted a slightly bigger tractor with a cab. Obviously called the JD dealer who sold me the 3320 and explained I wanted a bigger one with a cab. Took him three weeks to swing by my farm (10 minutes away), gave me a crappy trade-in price and even recommended a totally wrong tractor (though the JD 4720 was physically too small and the 5225 too large, he ended up recommending an orchard tractor which everyone told me would be an awefull idea). So finally the JD dealer gave me a huge quote on an unsuitable tractor. Stopped by the MF dealer which in 40 minutes away. Was at my place the next day, gave me a better trade-in value (so the MF dealer pays me more for my old JD than the JD dealer where I bought it !!!!).
The salerep was very knowledgeable, listen to my current and future needs and recommended the perfect tractor (1560). Haven't taken delivery yet but so far very very satisfied. big :D for the MF dealership.

My dealer handled both JD & MF. We wrote up a JD 2210 but I changed my mind and went with a MF 1428V instead. I also ordered a rear blade and a slip-clutch Woods brush hog. When the delivery date rolled around, they were more than 2 hours late and literally dumped and ran. First complaint was that they brought out a shear-pin Howse instead of the Woods. The second complaint was that they didn't explain *anything* about the tractor. After a few conversations with the dealer, they did swap out the Howse for the Woods. When he wrote up the sale, he simply wrote "tractor + 7" blade + brush hog". He simply forgot what we had agreed upon.

The dealer was about 20 miles from my place. He certainly wasn't the closest but many had recommended the dealer and I did like the guy. A year or two later, I did buy a RFM off him but will be looking at other dealers for others things I need.

The salesman I deal with owns the dealership also.
When I bought from him in 2006,he personally delivered my tractor and attachments.
He then proceeded to show me Every little detail about the workings
of the machine. When he finished with this he sat down at my kitchen table to go over
the maintenance schedule and the owners manual with me.
I am totally impressed with the customer service that I recieve from him.
I have reccomended his dealership countless times in two years.

Before buying my GC2310, I spent a lot of time online, then at a JD/Kubota dealer (twice), then called several other MF dealers before buying.

In the wrong department: Stopped by the JD/Kubota dealer where several years prior I had purchased a JD 755 (with mucho implements). It was nice to not be immediately attacked by sales people, but after hanging around for several minutes looking, I was ready to talk with someone, but there was no one around. I finally went over to where the salesmen have their offices and found one who was not on the phone.

I told him what I was looking for (small tractor with FEL & BH, that I will put a rear mount snowblower on for winter). My lawn is way too sloped to use a MMM.

The guy was probably in his 20s and to every question, he just whipped out an answer in a tone that was very condescending and irritating. He proceeded to tell me which tractor I needed and why I was better off to take the money out of my savings account instead of using the 0% financing. In general, he irritated me so much that I just left.

A couple days later, I went back with a friend who bought an orange tractor several years ago and has been a very good customer. Fortunately, irritating kid was not there so I got to talk with someone else. He was a nice guy, but admitted up front he did not know much about the CUT/SCUT line (he was an Ag tractor guy). Nonetheless, he was quite friendly and pleasant. I got a quote for a BX24 a JD (2305?), and left.

Then I started reading about M-F, since I was pretty troubled by all the plastic on the orange & green tractors.

So I found a few dealers in my area and made some calls. The closest one did not have a 2310 in stock, didn't know anything about them, said they might be able to find one (for almost $19,000), and was pretty useless.

Second closest one had a tractor in stock, a helpful salesman, and an OK price.

Third closest one I had to leave a message for the salesman, and by the time he got back, I was already at dealer #2. Dealer #3 had the best price, but was an extra 30+ miles farther than #2 (who was already ~ 30 miles from my home).

So I talked with dealer #2 about the tractor, and their price, and we reached a compromise that probably cost me a couple hundred bucks more than dealer #3, but I wasn't looking to make a career out of buying a tractor, and #2 is a long established business with a good reputation (as is #3).

The tractor was delivered exactly when promised and the delivery man went over the operation, and implement removal process, with me.

I was a bit surprised that I never received a follow up call to see if I had any questions or thank me for the purchase. That's happened every time I've bought a car in the past couple of decades and I think it's a nice touch.

Sorry to be so long winded, but in my case I started off to buy one of 2 brands, and because of the dealer wound up with a 3rd that wasn't even on my radar screen when I started.

I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to every opportunity to fire up the little diesel.

Well, I've had three different dealer experiences in the past few months.

Dealer one - Kubota. The saleman didn't even offer to take me outside and look at the tractor. He handed me a couple of brochures, quoted me a price and then pretty much walked out on me to go to lunch with his wife. It was a tossup at that time between the Kubota and the MF.

Dealer two - MF. The salesman was very helpful right from the start. It was pouring rain at the time so he got me some foul weather gear to wear while I test drove the tractor. He left me alone and said drive it all you like and come see me when you're done. I decided I wanted buy the tractor so he showed me the basics of operating the machine then helped me with the paperwork to get the deal through. The price was already advertised and it was fine with me. One thing I was disappointed in was they didn't offer delivery from this branch of the store. I had to rent a trailer and haul it home myself. It was an interesting experience at any rate. He called up to make sure I made it home okay...haven't heard from him since...

Dealer three - JD. I recently decided to buy a riding mower to replace my old Craftsman GT. Did my research like I always do, decided on the X300. Called the delaer, talked to a saleman who found out what I wanted and said it would be ready when I got there. i showed up, he literally met me at the door. Took me right out to look at the machine. We signed the papers (very fast service) He showed me every aspect of the mower, right down to the location of all of the grease zerks. He loaded it on my truck and told me that if the was any question or problem to call him immediately. During my short wait I saw him deal with a few other regular customers and they all got the same service, even if all they were doing was buying some string for their string trimmers. Very positive experience.

Agco Finance usually sends you a nice letter thanking you for purchasing with them. You should also get a customer survey to fill out about your buying experience, fill in the dots,2-3 pages long ,place to leave comments. I was very happy with my first tractor. I haven't got a survey yet for the new tractor. Maybe, I'll let the dealer sweat a little.....naw! So far,I liked the 2310 better,seems to be put together a little better then the 1531, just minor things. plowking

Ha! I was about to reply to this thread when I realized that it was an old resurrected thread that I had already replied to......over a year ago! :D

The dealer that I mention in my previous reply went out of business months after I bought my 2310TLB. Been in business since 1950. Figures they'd close up shop when I needed them. :mad:

Last year I decided to buy a 40-50+ hp CUT. I had my heart set on a JD 4000 Twenty series. The JD dealer was rude and condescending.

After walking out of the JD dealership, I went to the local MF dealer. The guy was genuinely happy to see me walk through the door. No BS, no putting down the competition, no pressure.

A new 1540 is on my lot now. Nice tractor. Very nice tractor. 0% financing, too.

"My" salesman was out of town when I bought my tractor.
The fellow that took his place was a really nice guy.
But here's what went wrong:
Why did I pay a sales commission?

I walked in with cash and said, "I want a MF-1540 8X8 with the 1525 loader, pallet forks, R-4 tires and ballast."

Why did I need a salesman?

To me, a salesman is needed when someone walks in and says, "I need a tractor, but have no idea where to start. Oh, and I need financing, and can you show me how it operates?"

If I could do it over, I would have contacted the branch manager and said,"I want a MF-1540 8X8 with the 1525 loader, pallet forks, R-4 tires and ballast. I do not need sales assistance in any way so how much can you discount the price. Call me when the tractor is ready and I will pick it up."

The only thing left for them to do is to have their secretary fill out the papers, and I would gladly pay $25.00 for her hour to do that.

So, the dealer did a very good job.
I'm the one that screwed up! I paid for a salesman that I didn't need.
