( not suppose to be driving your tractor on the road too far )

I know a fellow in the hay business who leases most of the land he grows hay on, and I know at least one of his hayfields is over 20 miles from his house, and of course, he routinely drives his 100+ hp tractors pulling his hay equipment back and forth. Now of course, his 3 tractors of that size have top speeds of 18 to 22 mph.

I guess it comes down to this ... Most CUT area used in a relatively small are as far as transporting goes . ( without a trailer ) If road speed is a high priority , then you'll have shop for a tractor that gives you the speed your after . Although as short coupled,and narrow wheel based as CUTS are I don't think Id be real comfortable with a machine going much over 10-15 mph with fel and implements attached . JMHO John .

I've driven my Deere 670 over the road. It was a 10 mile trip. My top speed was probably about 11 MPH on the flat and level parts...little more on the down hill, little less on the uphill stretches.

I know the full sized tractors can do 15-20 MPH, but 11 MPH felt pretty good on my little machine.

Remember, the size of the tires will have quite an influence on top speeds at Max RPM's.

Actually, there ARE CD players available for some of the models offered with cabs...
My family has hay and corn field 6-8 miles away. Their equipment gets ALOT of highway use.

tractors ar usually rated for thier power or traction, not speed. can any one tell the difference between 14 mph and 15.2 mph? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's pretty cool. What's it for, operator training? I think I saw someone on here post a picture of one(different model) and had his son belted in to go along for the ride. Looked pretty cool.

( Guys lets get serious. High gears on tractors? C'mon maybe Ferrari will make a tractor for all the yuppies who want to go fast. You're also not suppose to be driving your tractor on the road too far from your property, at least that is the law here in MA. What's next, CD players and seats with massage and heat?

this isnt about racing your tractor here or showing off, its about getting to a field in a productive and timely manner. and if you are using your tractor for agricultural purposes you can drive it legaly on the road, there is nothing that says you cant, and as for calling people yuppies for wanting a road gear, i think ya better reconsider that, its not a luxury its a neccesity if you are doing any real farming. i sure aint gona load up my truck and trailer everytime i need to go rake or ted hay. its people like yourself who decide that you dont like being stuck behind a slow farm tractor on the road so there outa be a law created to keep them off the street even tho they have been on the road since well before most of us were around. roading farm machinery is a right ya have as a farmer, of course they wanna take away all sorts of our rights these days so it probably wont be long before they decide to mess with that.
