What would you change about your current John Deere tractor?

Jenkinsph, I hope you can make it before the crowds reach the water. I certainly agree with you about the pleasures of boating.

On the other hand, I'm extremely pleased with my power reverser, much better than what I could even dream of. Contrary to what has been said, there is practically no delay when changing directions. I tried the e-hydro version at the dealership and wasn't convinced. You press the pedal and nothing happens, then suddenly the tractor bounds forward or backward unexpectedly. Of course I was a novice, but I found there was more delay than with the PR when I wanted to change directions. The dealer demonstrating the system and trying to convince me because the e-hydro is marginally more expensive knocked over an enormous flower pot at the dealership, which didn't help. I guess you learn to live with it.

The nice bit is that everyone seems to prefer what he bought, either PR or e-hydro.

Thanks made it to the lake no problems.

I think there was something wrong with the E Hydro you test drove, none of the ones I have driven had any kind of delay in pedal response. Touching the pedal should render an immediate movement which should be very smooth. If there had been a delay and then lurching movements I would have never bought my second one.

Well...techically speaking the delay can be configured to the way you like it... Probably wasnt "something wrong" so much as it was configured with a long delay...

Can you be more specific? I have all of the options on my new 4520 and am not aware of a delay function.

From the 3320 owners manual;

"MotionMatch enables the operator to adjust machine acceleration and
deceleration rates. Shorter starting and stopping distances can be set for
applications requiring rapid changes in direction, such as operating with a
loader. Longer starting and stopping distances can be set to avoid turf
damage in other applications."

I suspect MotionMatch is available on th 4x20 series also.

I have "MotionMatch" on my tractor, guess I need to read up on it, as it is set now it works perfectly for me.

Even on the "Base" model (on the cab machines at least) you can adjust the "delay" even without the dedicated Motion Match buttons...I played around with it before...and I like the "Factory Default" which is right in the middle...

Dave,
On mine if you step on the pedal it moves right away and the further I push the pedal the higher the engine rpms' will be. This is great for loader work but my 110 does not have this feature but I find it works for boxblade and landplane too. For pto work I turn it off and in most cases like rotary tilling I use the cruise functions at a set rpm.

Now that is a feature I would like on my 110tlb, "MotionMatch".

When you start building tractors in the 60 to 70hp you need to offer better hydraulic pressure. These tractors should be offered in both cat I and II three point hitches. When you have that kind of power you can pull some bigger tools, but can't lift them!

Storage / carrying capacity for tools etc. is non-existant and this is a continous pia. I love my 4320 but it has only a very small 'glove box' on the left fender. I would add built-on storage and room to carry tools, garden tools, chainsaw or two, hat/glasses, oil, gas, etc., far more than what Deere provides, this would make the tractor much more versatile.

Years ago I had a 3pt Jobox full size, could put all kinds of tools fence supplies in it. Good way to get back in the woods with tools to repair broken machinery.

Small toolboxes on the side of a tractor with hammer, crescent wrenches, extra pins, clips are very practical and easily added. Sockets made of 1 1/2" or 2" tubing mounted to the side can hold rakes and shovels too. Problem is they aren't real sexy or streamlined, strictly utilitarian so I wouldn't expect to see them from the factory anytime soon.
