What would you do?

I have a lot of trees, and leaves to deal with in the fall so material collection is important to me. I don't see much for options with most ZTR's in this area so I would also look at that if it concerns you at all. I also consider the BX, JD X700, etc. to be on the upper end of size that is really nice to mow with. I have "almost" put a mmm on my B several times, but I keep thinking more manuverable, and not less is better. Also, though my tires are much larger, the R-4's don't ride very softly.

I also own an "L" along with a "BX" for mowing chores. I ordered mine with the loader and it is great to use around the house. If I was mowing a huge area like several acres of finished lawn I might consider a ZTR but for a couple of acres the BX works well and is a multi-purpose tool like a swiss army knife.

John Thomas has a good point to. The Kubota "F" series mowers are also 4x4 and have a few front attachments and aftermarket cabs available. They can be used for both snow removal and mowing unlike a regular ZTR. They are also $$$. I believe they cost more than a loaded BX.

The F2680E is not 4wd like the F3080 and F3680.

I read this thread a couple of times...you have an L tractor, you have access to an excavator-why not a dedicated mower?

I had a BX for 9 years-loved it- but I bought a ZTR and my B 2620 over the last two years-and love the pair even more. The BX was a great compromise machine-a tractor with an FEL and three point hitch that could still mow- but having a better tool for each job (lawn mowing, tractor work) is nice.

I have a bush hog brand ZTR 60" at the house as well as a tractor with a 6 foot woods cutter. The ZTR will cut circles around the tractor! The only time the tractor comes out is to mow the 3 or 4 acres that I only mow two or three times a year and it it's waste high! ZTR is very efficient and it sounds like you have all the other tools you need.

You guys do make a valid point. I'm starting to see the light and think I will be going the dedicated mower route (ZTR)

The more you have to mow around the more the ZTR makes sense. I've had smaller Kubotas with mowers in the past and they couldn't compare with the speed and manueverability of my Ferris ZTR. I went with Ferris because they are well built and manufactured locally.
