What would you do?

I have a BX 22 with the 60" mid mount mower which I really like. I have turf tires which work well for everythng including bucketing snow with no chains. The mower is very heavy gauge steel, and makes a fantastic cut on the lawn. Of all the mowers Ive ever had it cuts the best and is 5 feet wide. Disclaimer: never used a ztr exept to test drive but on my rough lawn a ZTR would not be any faster.

Tough call, I've watched a lot of ZTR's mowing, and think how nice that would be. Is your land flat? I own a BX and mow about 2 acres, but about 2/3 of it is hilly. I've never used a ZTR, but have been told by several different people, ZTR's aren't very good on hills. A lot of mine is mowing sideways on the hills to. You really can't go wrong either way, since you already have other equipment available, but a BX with an end loader is a awfully hadny tool to have around.

once you have a ZTR, you never, ever look back --

I also own an "L" along with a "BX" for mowing chores. I ordered mine with the loader and it is great to use around the house. If I was mowing a huge area like several acres of finished lawn I might consider a ZTR but for a couple of acres the BX works well and is a multi-purpose tool like a swiss army knife.

John Thomas has a good point to. The Kubota "F" series mowers are also 4x4 and have a few front attachments and aftermarket cabs available. They can be used for both snow removal and mowing unlike a regular ZTR. They are also $$$. I believe they cost more than a loaded BX.

I realize some ZTR's have suspension, but most of the time when I see someone tearing around on one it looks like it is being operated by a bobble head doll; just couldn't stand all that bouncing at my age.

My land is flat, so I don't have any hills to worry about. I live in the woods, so I have many trees to mow around so I guess the ZTR has a good advantage there. The F series would be awesome, but they are a lot of coin and IMHO are in the same boat as the "just a mower" scenario...even though they have a few attachments I would never buy them as they wouldn't fit my tractor I already have. I probably wouldn't buy a loader for the BX or B anyway so maybe I'm being too concerned and should just pull the pin and go for the ZTR. I'm thinking gas now too as it would take a minimum of 5 years to "pay" for the diesel. And I'm VERY partial to rear discharge as it makes way too much sense to me.....that only leaves one answer I guess...ZG327....doesn't have the pivot front but I think will work fine. I'm sure I will be bouncing my head off the wall for a bit on this one as you all have valid points one way or another and I appreciate it!!:thumbsup: Won't be buying 'till spring, so I'm sure to be abck and forth a bit.
