John Deere 2210
<font color="green"> John Deere got a lot right with the 2210, a model in the 2000 series.

What would you like to see in a 2215 or 2220 if John Deere ever gets around to producing additional models in the 2000 series?

Good question! Here's my list -

3 pt depth control
engine temperature gauge
deluxe seat from X series
intelligent glow plug operation
folding ROPS option
R4 or HDAP tire option
power beyond option (Would like to run a 3pt log splitter)

I'll second the above list, but that pretty much makes it a 4000 series /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll second the above list as well ... except ... I'd like to see the folding ROPs standard on the 2000 series. Making it an option increases the cost of it and if someone really didn't need it, what would it hurt?

Just my $0.02 worth as I don't expect to buy another tractor until my 2210 is totally shot. (I currently have about 9 hours on it.) Truth is, I expect it will outlive me - or at least my ability to operate equipment! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

<font color="green">Fred,

Great list.

What is "intelligent glow plug operation?" I am not familiar with this term.

<font color="green"> True, but with the advantages in the 2000 series of less weight for estate lawn mowing as well as what I suspect is a lower center of gravity due to the smaller diameter tires and lower ground clearance on a 2210.

Let's add a subframe backhoe if not a separate model designated for backhoe use, like the BX22. Not that I need one, but....

I think what is meant by "Intelligent" glow plugs is a system that senses the need for glow plugs and allows for the user to cycle them without "tricking" the ignition system into a warm-up cycle. A smart starting system would allow the glow plugs to warm the chamber to a specified temp then signify to the operator that the pre-start routine was complete.

Here! Here! I second the backhoe idea /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes! Pete is correct on the "intelligent glow plug" operation. On my Duramax truck I turn the key, wait for the light to go out, then turn to start....seems to work pretty good to me...

Hadn't thought about the backhoe, great idea, maybe not for me but many others....gotta keep up with the BX's

Regarding doing all this and then you'd have a 4000 series - not really! The 2210 motor and trans are a lot simpler (less $$) than the 4XXX and as others noted I wanted the lighter weight and smaller tires/size because 80% of what I do is mow the yard. For me the only "glaring" exception is an optional rear hyd. outlet, I would really like a 3pt log splitter.

I have to believe that Deere could add the std items (ROPS, glow plugs, 3pt height, temp gauge) listed for a mass-produced price of only $300-400. The power beyond, deluxe seat and tire options would be at extra cost which would be OK with me.

The 2210 motor and trans is the same as the 4010, 4110 and 4115. The engine specs between theese models is hair splitting. Ditto on the trans. You have to get to a 4210 to have the eHydro and then there are significant engine and trans differences. The biggest difference on theese is the hydraulic pumps. Most of the features we all want are really not so usefull on a lighter tractor with the baby tires and low center of gravity. I would love to have ALL of those things but I would probably have MY 2210 dead in short order working the frame beyond its ability. So I think we need to add a real 1 piece tractor frame to the list /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif What it seems the Majority want is a Lawn mower on serious steroids /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
