Gang, a friend of mine has this Yanmar tiller and I'm working on. The goal is to get it back to a "usable" state and I can see that it has a leaking seal on the gearbox drive end. Also, the previous owner tried to create a 3pt a-frame but this was clearly their first fabrication job.

How can I tell what model tiller this is to I can confirm the correct parts? I believe it is a RS1400 with a 57" working width.

Needs:
(1) tine shaft seals on both ends
(2) a few gearbox bolts barely have a head on them, might find those at my hardware store
(3) body shields are pretty rough with lots of pin-holes, might try lightly welding these or reskinning with tin.

I also need to fab up a new 3pt frame that'll work with my quick hitch. The current pins are only 21 5/8" apart where my Cat1 quick hitch is 26". If anyone has already done that, would love to see some examples.

It does look like the very early RS series. It has more features like the RS1200 or a RS1202 or other RS120x model.

RS1200 was on the YM1500 SCUT. Your image is missing many parts too.

Thanks for the reply. It's there something I can find out identify that would indicate the model number? I couldn't find a stamp or model plate.

I've found a few pictures of these, and yes, I'm missing the whole year gauge wheel setup. Someone tried to make this a traditional 3pt tiller. I'm just going to try and fix their mistakes.

Here's the seal I need

Mike

My tiller has roughly a 57" working with. That would make it a 1400 series, right? The 3pt mounting frame looks like the 1400 as the 1401 has rounded ears.

Agree, RS1400. They were sold together with YM2000. It's a perfect match for my YM240 which is the US version of YM2000.

The diagonal braces next to the 3-point pins distinguish it from the 1401 in Mikeboi's photo.

Here's a photo of my RS1400 on the YM240, that I took to show the driveshaft they gave me was too short. (No-hassle, they gave me a free pto extender).
(Photo, later on my YM186D).

And a pic of someone else's clean RS1400, that I copied from here long ago.

Note in both photos
1) there's an ID tag above the center gearbox.
and
2) You need that special 2 piece top link to keep it from contacting the tires when raised, or else longer arms on the tractor. Or 3-point pins on the tiller mounted far forward. And in both cases, a longer driveshaft.

To fabricate a new pin location to fit a quick hitch, this photo below might suggest a starting point for your project. I made an adapter for my back blade to accept the quick hitch.

Here's a thread with more photos describing this project.

Top link lets the Tiller sit real close to the rear tires. And when you raise it the Tiller swings out away from the tires and up. It was nice to have that!

The YM2000 was my craftsman garden tractor replacement. Lawn mower now but I used it for tilling the mothers Garden also, And it did work really good. Rice Patty Tillers is what it actually was so hard packed soil is slow going. New tines is almost a must in Ga. Hard clay soil.;) Tilled with a walk behind for Yrs. so it handled that easily!
