What's a good paint sprayer?

For carpentry tools, yes.

Back then just the thought of painting would drive me to drinking and heading in the other direction at a high rate of speed.

I still feel that way, just not set up for it in my small shop, even with a decent hvlp rig.

What does the turbine do?

It's a different system. You have a blower unit that is self-contained and usually runs off of regular 120V electric. It is a lot cheaper to buy a good turbine unit than it is to get a compressor big enough to supply true HVLP air quantities. Most HVLP run off compressors (except major industrial setups) are only pseudo HVLP as it takes a very large compressor to keep up with the volumes needed (even stepping down the pressure). I picked up a FUJI turbine a few years back. I run it in my garage with a pseudo spray booth I rigged up with a fan, so I can only do it in decent weather. Here is a shot of it below. The brown patch is the spray booth filter, and the fan is mounted behind it.

Hey Dave, do you know if Fuji make the accuspray (my) units?

It sounds familiar...but it might just be I'm crazy.

I doubt it, but the guts of the blower (the turbine itself) are pretty much all made by one company. I can't think of their name, but they make a ton of blower type systems for numerous applications all over industry. I'll recognize it if I hear it, but a Google search only turns up a billion Indian companies making turbines, and not the biggest one that actually makes all these units. Go figger.
