What's a good tabletop bandsaw to buy for wood?

My FIL bought a Rikon benchtop bandsaw from Menards. I helped him unbox and set it up. I was very impressed with the construction and features for a benchtop tool, the machine is heavy cast iron with ball bearing blade guides. I have a Jet 14" floor stand bandsaw and the Rikon was just as heavy built but in a smaller package. If I was in the market for a benchtop bandsaw, I would buy the Rikon.

Wen makes good inexpensive woodworking equipment. You could try one from your favorite store. If you dont loke it send it back.
For a inexpensive "PRO" model try Rikon benchtop bandsaw. you wont be disappointed.

The Rikon has a 5/8 miter slot vs the industry standard 3/4. That was a deal breaker for my son in law foreclosing use of improved miter gauge and other guides and clamps.

For me.. I have never used a miter gauge with mine.
I use jigs for everything. Any jig that requires a miter rail I make my own.
I would assume handling a softball sized burl you would be makeing your own as well.
BTW The Rikon has a 5 year warrantee

I'd check Craigslist too. For your needs, there are some nice used saws out there.
