That's a tough one. There's a fellow (Muhammad...) who toils quietly in the background making this thing work. Why the equipment manufacturers aren't tripping over themselves to get a link on these pages is beyond me. Woods? Landpride? Bradco? Dealers, etc etc etc?

His efforts go largely unrewarded and probably unthanked. This board could disappear in a second, leaving us all with nothing to do but sit on a rock and mumble to ourselves. Drop him a note now and then. (This ones mine!) Or post a comment. This isn't Yahoo we're dealing with here with 20,000 faceless uncontactable employees.

One of the coolest things about this sites construction? He's designed it so that no GOOF (me) is able to DOUBLE POST comments, it won't let you!

If you click around on this site you'll find all kinds of things you didn't know were there.

I would also like to again thank all of you. The civility of this board is outstanding. In addition to my big toys, I'm still thinking of a 38" mower, leaning towards a baby JD. Spent some time reading a lawn and garden forum. Geez those guys don't pull any punches and will shred you in no uncertain terms at times. Somehow we've avoided that. I'm sure there are people who stop by here and don't understand our "color" bantering back and forth, mine versus yours etc. We do it in the spirit of friendship, at least it appears that way to me. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of guys and gals that would LIKE to have a tractor, ANY tractor, ANY color and probably can't wonder what we have to argue about.

If I came across an excavator board and they were all kidding each other about the color of their units I'd wonder too (except I know we're just having fun with each other).

Speaking of colors, we have the dull Blue Orange Green, have you ever seen what the Japanese excavators are painted? Every color you can imagine, lavender, aqua, purple, yellow the whole rainbow. I'll have to get out my crayon box and label each crayon with a brand name if I want to talk to THOSE GUYS!

June's here, time to stop jawin' and get to workin'

I am typing this with one finger because I have the baby in my other arm feeding him, so please excuse any typo's.
Without Tractorbynet I wouldn't know the following :
- what a compct tractor is
- that the good ones are made in japan, are lots of $$, and are worth it
- that seatbelts are important
- that despite my initial inclination, I really should get HST
- how and why to ballast against the loader on the 3 point
- how to use a back blade
- how to warmup the tractor in cold weather
-that I can effectively use a back blade to move snow, and do not need a blower
- how to fix my sticky throttle
- how to fix my frozen loader controls
- how to safely operate on slopes
- how to adjust my rear wheel spacing
- how to properly drain my hst fluid (Bird and I were both doing it wrong we found out from Bud)
- about amsoil
- what a rotary cutter is, and tips on selection and use
- what rpm to run at for various jobs, and what hst range
- that everybodies B series runs with the temperature guage in the cool range, not just mine
- how to use my pto
- not everyone loves my Suburban as much as I do
- that the stuff in my oil is just air bubbles
- and much much more, this list is just off the top of my head. "Thank you" doesn't even come close to saying enough.

Hi Del,

Nice comments. I think all of us really do appreciate this board, and more specifically, Muhammad's devoted labor to give us (literally) one of the best sites on the Web.

The thing I like best about this site and board is the PEOPLE. You hit it on the head in remarking about the helpfulness and courtesy, and lots of fun, that everybody shares here. Almost every board I have ever visited slides into spiteful arguing. That Muhammad has kept this board on the very high level of information and cooperation since the very start more than two years ago, is the "best" thing about it, IMO. Any board is useless if you can only find a couple of "good" messages out of hundreds of spams and slams.

If you spend a few minutes checking out the profiles of registered users, you'll see we are a highly varied group, from Police captains to dirt farmers. Keeps it lively and lots of different experiences.

del,

Thanks for starting this thread, I've always been thankful to Muhammad for the hard work he does on this board! I'm especially thankful that he gave me the "Veteran 'Blue' Member" title since I kinda like my BLUE tractor! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif
He thinks it makes up for all the guff I get from the Orange guys! Actually if the Orange guys didn't give me a hassle from time to time, I wouldn't have near the fun or enjoyment or the opportunity to explain to them why they went wrong by not buying BLUE! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

And I think you're right about those without tractors would really just like to have one! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks Muhammad, JimBinMI

This site is very conversational. The people here make the character of the site. A different group of people, and this format just turns into another info database with graphics, ads and vaguely nutty content.

I don't exactly agree that Muhammad is in the background all the time. However, that's good, and certainly is a reason why people stay around. Most sites have something called 'administrator' or 'moderator' who pop up only to delete or move threads. I think the relative ease of our format change speaks well of Muhammad's skills. Some of you probably can compare the experience here to that of what seems to be the former 'high traffic' ag site. Their new format isn't really bad, but their participants greeted the change much like my uncles greeted daylight savings time.

Muhammad watches the goings on pretty carefully on this board. He is an excellent administrator and has tweaked this data base system to work very well. Thanks. You have my permisssion to move this thread to Feedback. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The best thing is that it keeps you yuppies with Japanese lawn toys and repetative newbie questions off the real tractor and farming boards.

After ponding what you have wrote del, there so many ways one could express there gratitude for this website.

I have search the web with caution looking for a tractor website, and now I have finally found one !!

True there alot of good information offer here, but what caught my eye was the respect for one another, different personality, trust, caring, sence of humor, and any age of a female & male would be welcome also comfortable on this website.
I to have notice Muhammad stands in the shadows and I also realize he can't be two places at once,
but sometimes thank you just not enough and this would be one of those times.
Muhammad.....I tip my front end bucket to you also thank you.

Thank you one and all.
