Ernest, I just recently bought a
BX2230 and love it. I also tested out several
BX1500,
Bx1800, and
BX2200 models. In a side by side comparison the new
BX2230 seat is much nicer then the older model. On my acre lot, I have never found a reason to use the cruise, I don't think I would ever use it, unless mowing for very long stretches. I like to keep my foot on the pedal to adjust speed around trees, etc.
The pedal is very comfortable after spending a few hrs on the machine. I came from a JD lawn tractor with two foot pedals (reverse and forward), and I actually like the Kubota pedal much better. I sit my heal on the floor board and move my toe to the floor board when in reverse, never felt the need to use the "rocker" method with my whole foot on there.
I don't buy the idea that Kubota is testing the new engine on the public. I am happy to have the newest engine with the latest refinements. I have zero worries about reliability with this engine.
When testing the
BX2200 next to the
BX2230, the
BX2230 was much quieter and idled much smoother. In my opinion, it was much more desirable then the
BX2200. The hydraulics also worked faster and at much lower RPMs. Maybe it was just those two tractors, but I could definitely tell a big difference. I am not knocking the
BX2200, just simply stating my opinion.
You can't go wrong with either unit, that sounds like a good deal on the 2200, I would try both next to each other, and go with your gut. Chances are you will regret not getting the one you really want, regardless of the cost.
