What's going on at Amazon?

Amazon worked out a deal with my state a while back to send them 8% sales tax. We have several cities around the state that charges 10% tax.

I bought something last week from E bay. At check out sales tax was added. I notified the seller I wasn't going to purchase as the sales tax wasn't noted up front. The seller responded , that they didn't charge the tax it was E Bay. I contacted E Bay and they said this was the seller , Not E Bay.

I notified the seller of the lie they told. They said if I would buy they would refund the tax they charged. I told the seller if they didn't refund, I would leave bad feed back. I made the purchase and the tax charge was refunded.

This seller was from china. I knew they weren't going to send this tax to my state !

Bottom line is, You have to watch these sellers. They will slip xtra charges in if you aren't paying attention !

I buy from the other side of the world on occasion, sometimes i get it in a week or two, amazing.

Around here it is about an hour to get something and return from a brick and mortar store. So whatever you value your time and gas at, add that to the price of what you just bought. I get more and more stuff online. By planning ahead it is on the porch in 1-5 days ready for use. The time freed up from physical shopping is substantial. Amazon Prime is the most comprehensive, but eBay, Costco, HF, Lowes and HD are all very useful too. And pressing a couple buttons is much less stressful than being out on the road with today's drivers.

I've never even seen anything on Amazon shipped from China. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I've never seen it personally.

I recently purchased this endoscope, and it shipped directly from China. Took two weeks to arrive, not being a Prime purchase. Unfortunately the specifications mistakenly said it would fit where I needed to view, but when it arrived I found it to be almost twice the size. The vendor refunded my purchase cost and told me to keep it, largely because they wanted to keep a strong Amazon rating. Without that, I'm pretty sure I'd be out seventy bux. I doubt anything like this is still made in the USA.

No...probably won't do that,....but....I have been known to plan a major buy to be made in NH, if the timing works out for me.
NH liquor store prices seem to be not as good as before.
Currently do have an implement on hold for me at the Greenland, NH TSC store.

This is not directed at anyone here and I don't mean to veer this thread off too far that it's moved to Friendly Politics but I do get a kick out of out of staters who vote for all the social services in their home state and then do all they can to avoid paying the taxes needed to support said services.
