What's going on at Amazon?

Prime has declined as well. You have to look for the "Guarantied delivery" to ensure it will show in 2 days. They have all sorts of shipping options they use. A lot of them are via USPS these days which works just as well as any government entity.

I gave up on Amazon a couple of years ago and moved most of my business to EBay. Much better service and better prices too. Before moving along I'd sent Amazon several emails about their sag in service. lost and unfulfilled orders, higher prices etc. but apparently they just don't give a squat. They are too busy taking peoples money just for being a customer though their Prime program. It'll be a cold day in hades before I pay anyone just to do business with them. DUH!! I might be crazy but I'm certainly not stupid.

Same here. I can find almost anything listed on Amazon on ebay with free shipping for the same or cheaper price and ebay dealers almost always ship by next day.

Yeah the service and communication is much much better. I probably get at least three emails connected with each order. One to acknowledge the order, another to say when it leaves the door, typically a day or two at most later and usually another with a tracking update. Then a few more after the fact asking for feedback. Apparently EBay is hard on vendors who don't perform and land on em with both feet.
So far I'm happy I moved most of my online buying to EBay. I guess Amazon figures they can make up for the lost business by getting suckers to pay them money for nothing more than being there. Like PT Barnum said, a new sucker is born every minute. It kinda reminds me of politics, I often sit in wonder at how so many people can be so dayum stupid.

Ebay and Amazon are always on the top of the search page. But that doesn't make them the best deal. I try to look down a few lines on the page. Many times you can buy directly from the manufacturer, get better service, and not have to pay Amazon 15% just to be a middleman. Those free movies ain't really free.

Half the time when I try to buy direct the manufacturer pushes me off to their EBay site.

Prime is on sale today for $79 for new subscribers, too. It also entitles you to free movies, music, etc.

That may be useful if you watched a lot of movies and had high-speed internet with unlimited bandwidth. I have enough trouble watching YouTube.

All I care about is getting my order delivered in a reasonable time. So up until Friday they're sitting on their hands saying; "See how crappy we are, send us money for a membership so we can improve our service".

Well, had to stop typing and go answer the door. It was UPS with two boxes from Amazon. One box had a 6x9 envelope containing Talon Grips and the other had a 1oz. tube of Tetra Gun Grease. Yep, two items and two boxes.

Added:
Wow! Almost missed it. The box with the Tetra Gun Grease also had a brochure with all the Tetra Gun products.

I mentioned the discount for people that are interested. Sounds like you are not interested. Carry on.

I concur, it's almost like I wrote that! I've concluded in the past couple years, Amazon is only good for searching products, I even have a shopping list there, find what I'm looking for, then go to ebay for a lower price and free shipping. In the last two years for me, ebay beat Amazon on prices by a mile, that's prime enough for me. Pay someone just so I can pay someone, good grief Charlie Brown.......

Why does a gallon of milk cost more at the convenience store than the grocery store? Because some people are willing to pay the extra money to get in and out quicker at the convenience store. Same can be said for Amazon and eBay. If you shop around, you can almost always find better prices but for some folks, it is just convenient to go to one or two places, buy all your stuff, and pay a bit more for it, e.g. Amazon.

As for Amazon Prime, I've used it for years and been satisfied. I would much rather support my locally owned stores and do for many things. Still, Amazon has one thing I really like and that is reviews on products - especially if it is an expensive product. I've gone into many local stores before and while in the store, used Amazon's reviews to help me pick good products.

The other thing about Amazon is I often find they have exactly the product I want and I am willing to pay extra for the right product versus one that will work but not quite what I want. It really bugs me to spend time shopping local stores only to find they stock the lowest quality, fastest moving version of a product and I end up wasting hours doing that. I can't expect them to have everyone's perfect product but I often will give them a shot.

I order from Amazon, in fact I had a package come a couple days ago, and ordered some more today...all using PRIME for FREE!

Yup, Amazon bugs me to "try" Prime for a month for FREE, so I do! This is the time of year I order Christmas presents, so I sign up for Prime and order away!

Then after the 30 days is up, I'm done ordering and I cancel Prime! Works for me!
