I made a mistake this year and started my garden in June and should have started in March. Tennessee has a long growing season. I will be having only butternut squash, cantaloupe, watermelon this time.

Whats in your garden?

We got a late start but we have, lots of sweet corn, lots of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, lots of beans green & wax, eggplant, etc. Here's a shot of the young corn just before I hit it with the Urea. It really took off after that.

I started a little late this year, early rains and cold weather. But now I am eating zucchini. Some tomatoes and early corn. The corn has done best this year, so far. Althougth, the cantalopes looking good;) Tried some yellow meated watermelon this year, my dad's favorite. Can't wait for the pole beans and cukes to get big enough to eat. My peppers aren't doing so well, they have some kinda of rust looking disease. So may have to get my peppers at the farmer's market.

Mostly weeds, now.

I have found that if you keep weeds in check when the're young it's much easier. Once they get big and gain control it's kinda like waging war on a lost cause.

I usually run the "Troy Horse" through the garden whenever the weeds get about an inch tall. It breaks up the soil which helps the veggies get more moisture and buries the weeds where they can decompose and add something back to the garden.

Little bit? LITTLE bit? It looks like a corporation instead of a garden, Dave. How big of a labor force do you have? Nice!:)

Mike, your corn looks great. I just lost mine to hungry worms and raccoons, but I didn't have the big crop that you have. Oh well, it's 4 ears for a $1 at Wal*Mart anyhow. Your soil looks perfect for growing. How many acres of that kind of soil do you have? I think you have a bumper crop in the making.

Mike and Dave, I'm envious, great looking crops. Thanks for the pictures... Mark
