Clutch wear and replacement is a bigger problem than hst or turbo warranty.
Ever wonder why you can’t get a manual transmission in a heavy duty pickup anymore, or why the majority of mediums are Allison’s?
EPA and fuel economy rules are an increasingly large part of that, the ECU being able to know exactly what the transmission is going to do and when it is going to do it can yield a tiny fuel economy improvement by changing certain engine operating parameters vs. a clutched manual where it can't.
A lot of people also are too lazy, distracted, scared, or ham-fisted to drive a regular clutched manual.
