Only a transplanted city dude would wax a tractor! A farmer down the road bought a new Massey Ferguson about ten years ago and it has been sitting outside ever since. It looks like it is about 30 years old. Now that's a real tractor guy.

I use a soy based liquid wax I got at a JD AG dealer. Lasts about 2 years outside if under some cover.. good stuff.. tough..

Grew up on a farm myself....It's been in the family for 6, going on 7 generations. Not a lot of "city" in me....

We wash/wax/shed all of our equipment, including a yearly (or more frequently in some cases) wax/polishing of tractors and combines. They are worth many peso's.... I want them to remain in as good of condition as possible. Also, while cleaning, we get the opportunity to do a close-up inspection on the equipment. Many 'o time have we discovered something amiss that would have cause a very expensive parts failure/down-time while cleaning equipment.

I don't "preach" my thoughts to everyone, but will just say it pays off in the long run to take good care of the appearance of your equipment.

I only wax the top of my hood on my JD....I used Nu Finish to do that......now I do the "up keep" with a new spray on Turtle Wax product that works great.....spray it on, rub it off and the hood looks like I used a fancy hand-rubbed paste. It is called Turtle Wax Express Shine.

I agree.. I paid a ton o' money for my tractor.. I'm making sure it lasts as long as possible. That includes a rain cover and wax.. etc.

it's actually a JD branded product. i don't know the name though when i get home tonight I will sure look it up for you. i have it inthe garage right now as i waxed my 1949 Allis Chalmers G a while back in prep for a show in a couple weeks.

 I first noticed Lemon Pledge being used at a lawn and garden show,.... 

Auto buffs (no pun intended) have been doing this for decades, although they prefer ButchersBlock over Pledge. I've used both for years and it works well for me also.
