What\'s the dumbest purchase you\'ve ever made?

I was cleaning the car last night and got to thinking how much I hate my shop-vac. It's the biggest one they make and I wish I'd have never bought it 10 years ago. I feel like I am lugging a 55 gallon drum around. If I knew then what I know now, I would have definitly gone for a smaller one, I'm sure it would clean just as well.

Anyway, you guys ever have moments like this? What thing(s) did you buy that you wish you never did? Thought maybe we could learn from one another's mistakes.

My better half bought the egg seperator they show on TV for taking the shells of hard boilded eggs..Dont bother it does not work like they show on tv unless you hold your tongue all the way to the left and stand on one foot at the same time... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Plus the wooshing sound it makes when you use it really scares one of my dogs! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

some day she will learn about those TV gimmicks!!!

Back in 1974 when I got out of the Navy, I was driving a '67 Camaro convertible that needed quite a bit of work (new top, new window crank mechanisms in the doors, new paint job - although no rust). My wife talked me into trading the car in on a '74 Mercury Comet. This was our first brand spanky new car (woohoo! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

Within a couple of weeks, we were calling the car the "Comic". It seemed like everyday, something else would go wrong with it. The dealer was pretty good about taking care of everything whenever something happened, but even he said after awhile that we'd really gotten a lemon. And this was before anybody had even thought of a Lemon Law!

We put up with it for just about a year and then got rid of it. The real problem is that every now and then, I'll see a PRIMO '67 Camaro driving down the street and think to myself that that could have been me! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

How about the dumbest purchase I DIDN'T make? I was offered some stock, at $1 per share. You had to buy a block (1000 shares) minimum. I considered I could do better things with that $1000. Last time I checked, the stock was worth more than $400 a share. Ain't hindsight somethin?

As an adult I think that I have learned from my childhood mistakes. I don't believe I have bought anything (well not that I can recall) that I would consider a dumb purchase. If I do remember something, I will be sure to post it.

Sunk a bunch of money in my company stock (I won't mention what company). When it was first traded it was offered to employees at a "bargain price" of $15 per share and a prediction of it doubling within two years. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well, it's been five years and it's now at $8. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Oh well, it's just money.

I have offered my services as stock advisor to close family members but for some reason they have chosen not to hire me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
