If I'm not mistaken the 4310 has "Load Match"? Make sure it's on!;) ChrisNJ us E-Hydro owners wil be behind you 100%. :D

OK, lets set up some parameters. Both tractors in low range, 4wheel drive engaged and differential lock in. Both tractors should also either have or not have the loader on. GO!

I've owned both.......................my moneys on the geared tractor.

Using the laws of physics I'd call it a "draw". Neither tractor will lack power -- wheels will spin on both tractors with equal force in opposite directions. With the weight of each being equal, neither tractor should move.
But, it would be interesting to go through the experiment. :)

Since the gear tractor has a little more HP available, I would think it should have a slight edge. However, in a contest where you need a specific speed at a specific RPM, it'd be Hydro all the way.

he, he!!! sounds like fun, i'd do it, but my neighbor is 80+ and would freek. i'm with sunnyside though and it would probably come down to who's got better traction, condition of tire edges, etc.. all issues. gear probably has slight hp advantage. but all the other variables outway a few hp. also human clutch work, vs. load-match software-hardware could be a factor too. load match works great too, i drive a pile with no worries, just drive a pile. sorry it won't happen, but fun to dream.

I'll tell ya.............you have to give the old guy credit. 81 and buys a new tractor, there is a man looking to the future. Chris I think he might suprise you!

This is turning into a really great thread. I'll bet I could even get some of the Orange and Blue guys over here to take a side and cheer someone on.

My opinion is , the gear tractor has a few more HP.
and hydro has loadmatch to let it slip a little to get a bite.
but a gear tractor would be geared lower. in tug of war. it would
most likely be even up for a short time. but if you laid on them a bit.
i think the hydro would get hot and come apart. I still feel the gear tranny is stronger.
and would out live the hydro , power for power Duty wise...;)

Chris...:)

Chris, I'm glad to see there are at least two of us hydro guys that will admit that a geared tractor would take the prize.............even if it is being operated by an 81 year old man. lol.
I know RoyJackson would side with us too, but he is a 101% gear man anyway.

Sincerely, Dirt
