I have had good dealing with chevy and dodge on there warrenty work.Back when I had a 6.5turbo diesel the motor crapped out at 95,000miles no quesions asked wreckered it in and put new motor in. I also owned a 97- 5.9cummins never went to shop for anything only had 125,000 miles when traded. I put the 2011 in and shop went beyond what I expected to hurry in and out and done full service without asking for free. I dont believe you can go wrong on duramax or cummins,I believe dodge had been lacking on interior until now against chevy's.I do believe duramax will smoke a cummins in race but when it comes to pulling I dont think you will see to much difference. I pull heavy loads all the time and very happy with how the truck pulls and shifting is smooth. To me it would be a coin flip between the two if I didnt mind paying the extra money for duramax and could forget about the bailout....

I'd buy the truck you like best. Forget about what you've been told by other people and any previous notions you have. I have seen other people "afraid" to buy a Dodge. I had someone tell me "I would have bought the Dodge, I liked it best but............." . This is not just with their trucks either, but cars also. I always ask if you liked it best, why didn't you buy it? They can't tell me why, but their is some nagging doubt about the quality in the back of their head.

As you can tell by my name, I'm a huge Dodge fan. I will say this, I work with someone who bought, I think its a 2007, Duramax. I can't keep up with what they call the cab, but I think its a crew cab. I think it has a lot of back seat room, much more than my quad cab, but not as much room as a mega cab. Dodge also makes the crew cabs now also. I drove his D-Max and I liked the way it drove and it had good power. The only thing that jumped out at me is it is much quieter than my 2004 Cummins, but I haven't driven a new Cummins either.

Warranty work? In my opinion, it has more to do with a dealer, than who makes it. I backed into my garage door once and broke my outside mirror. The dealer fixed it under warranty. They said the mirror should have folded and not broken. They just gave me a break is the truth of the matter. I have heard two things reading the diesel forums. Both Dodge and Ford have denied warranty claims saying the problems were caused by "bad fuel". In one of the Dodge diesel forums, a person was bitching about Chrysler not honoring his warranty. Under his signature line, he had a long list of mods to his truck. What did he expect when he hops the truck up? Once again, its up to the dealer to do the right thing when it comes to warranty work.
