You said it cosst him money when people use a credit card????
Then why is there a cash or credit price?
Also 98% of the companies do not charge the extra % if it is their gas card used.

It just frustrates me that I see a advertised price and when I pull in and fill up my receipt has a different price because I used a credit cart:mad:

Nah, I don't recall saying anything like that, but most fuel stations on the highway advertise a price that's lower than what you pay if you use a credit card. If you ask, they tell you that the lower price is the "cash price only" price.

I've always been setup on a 15 day net when I've had fuel delivered which, with their current gouging, will never happen again. Even if the diesel road tax is a quarter, when they charge a quarter more for dyed fuel, that seller is making an extra 50 cents per gallon over the roadside fuel station. With that being the case, they can rot and go out of business as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting how different areas have cash/credit prices. I have not seen a difference in fuel prices because of cash or credit payment in years.

I used to see it the price difference but I cannot remember the last time I saw it.

Around here, no matter if you're sitting on the side of the road with your tank and the tanker truck is sitting at a stop light, there is a 300 gallon minimum; period. If you have them out and you don't take 300 gallons, they charge $1.00 a gallon extra for every gallon you bought plus a $25 surcharge fee. If you lived where I do, besides getting screwed on the price, you'd have to haul your own fuel from regular on road service stations or you'd be out of luck. It's getting kinda crazy.

I should have said again, this went into the HHO tank.

In WI it is illegal to charge more for using a credit card. It is legal, however, to offer a cash discount. All signage is the "normal" price, however.

This summer I took a road trip with a 26' Penske to Florida and noticed a wide variety of scenarios. Sometimes I paid what the sign said, sometimes more for credit card payment. I didn't stop often enough to know if this just varied by state, or varied within each state.

It use to be Illegal for any one in any state to offer a Cash discount. I think the new credit card legislation changed this that they passed recently in the CARD bill or whatever it was called.

Well, on road fuel is back down to $3.09 at the station I visited when I started this thread. Should I go make a couple trips filling my little 100 gallon tank (and emptying them in my barn tank) or not? It's about a 7 mile drive according to my odometer each way. Stinking #2 dyed was quoted to me at $3.42! Or, should I wait and see if it comes down? It would take another 3-400 gallons to fill my tank. Is it worth it? Timing wrong?

Timing is wrong IMO I think you will see fuel go down a bit more before it skyrockets just before spring.

I have been on vacation for a few weeks so it had been awhile since I drove past the station where I fill up. Diesel onroad was $3.25. OUCH. I forgot to look at the log book to see what the price was at my last fill up before vacation but I think it was 3.09 or 3.19. So it went up quite a bit.

I usually see Diesel go up in price heading into winter. This year the price spike seems to have hit later. I really should put these prices in a spread sheet and graph the numbers to see what happens and when. :D:D:D

Or is that too geeky?:laughing::laughing:

Dan,

You can save yourself some work if you are willing to settle for weekly data that are not specific to NC.

I guess I am too geeky. :D

I would rather know what I have spent on the trucks since 1995.:laughing::laughing:

I kick myself because back in 1995 I threw out my log book that had the MPG and gas prices on my first car I bought in 1984. :D
