see what you have done JD you have got the peoples attenision that thinks that what we have been using for the past 60 years plus is whats killing us.

Here are some other healthy choices since there is nothing that has been learned in recent years:

In China and Tibet, mercury use was thought to prolong life, heal fractures, and maintain generally good health

Lead plumbing in the Latin West may have been continued beyond the age of Theoderic the Great into the medieval period.

Drink up. :confused2:

For degreasing parts, engine Bays, even a boat bilge, I use simple green. I never dissolve it. Straight up. It works wonders. Also for drive ways and indoor/outdoor carpet try tide. I have no secrets for hand cleaner as I struggle with that one, I guess I just try and keep my hands clean. ;)

Citric acid works great on equipment...Spray on and hose off...No damage so far...Keep some in the spray bottle and wash your hands with it too.

Ditto on that orange cleaner is excellent then wash off with water!

I use Fulsolv Orange 95 orange cleaner from Fuller brush on all the hard to remove things like duct tape glue and grease stains in customers car seats and carpet works on engines also smells great also.

Simple Green or Purple Power (preffered) for large degreasing with a hose. Works well on engine compartments and all, but not perfect. Warm up a few lengths of hose in the sun while letting the stuff soak for a bit and it works really well.

Chassis cleaning and parts cleaning, nothing beats regular old toxic brake cleaner. Low tox and low VOC stuff is about as powerful as the Purple Power.

I've cleaned my hands with everything, but the mineral spirits and brake cleaner scare me from all the stories I've heard. I try to stick with Fast Orange or the hand cleaner wipes now. Final cleaning with dish soap at home.

For parts NOT in the parts washer

Brakekleen
Alcohol
Acetone

In no particular order.

For my hands, we use this good stuff at work. Best I have seen so-far. It is Stoko brand handcleaner. It is a cream color and VERY gritty/pasty. Much more grit than fast orange or gojo.

Second on the totally Awesome product. Seems like a gimmic, but the stuff is carried at the dollar stores and it works. Dawn is used for oil spill animal clean up. Keep it around for the hands.

I put in my 3 cents worth earlier (inflation) but had to add .. I got some of that Cherry Go Jo in a little small squeeze bottle and that stuff smells good enought to put on a bisquit. It works allright too.

i do not have to clean parts enough, to warrant a parts washer. and when i do, need to clean some parts, will use some diesel or gas which ever is near by. to clean the parts up. before putting things back together.

ya i risk a fire / boom. when i get the wire brush out on some things. but just a little dap of gas or diesel and go. and let things air out / dry / evaporate, for a couple hours, before i do something major that may cause a spark, not the smartest thing in the world to use though. but *shrugs*

use go-jo or lava soap for hands / arms.
