What's your favorite Honey?

Don't exactly know what the bees feed on out there, but Black Hills wild flower honey is very good. I don't mean the stuff they sell in the tourist traps flavoured with berries, but the good stuff from road side stands. Bottled by mom and pop ( not my mom and pop but somebody's). Very different than the stuff in a little bear in the store.

What does the comb add to the honey? Taste difference?

We have a local guy who sells honey and we got some recently. pretty good. He mentioned he has some with the comb in it, and wondered then just what the difference is.

It was more popular back in the day. You put a gob in your mouth and chew the wax for a while. Then spit it out, just like candy. The upside, besides being fun to eat, is that the honey is unfiltered. This means more nutrients and yes, that does include various bee parts. When I used to sell it at work, the comb honey was always the first to go, so I upped the price a bit.

Early spring Cherry/Blueberry/Blackberry/Locust blossom is what we get from the Beekeeper that does our pollination.

I dunno how anyone gets specific blossom honey, because the little boogers hit everything they can in a 2-3 mile radius, and despite specific instructions, they refuse to just stay in the fields with the hive.

It cracks me up when I see the hippies selling "Organic Local" Honey around here.:laughing:

your own or local. i got about 30 lbs of spring honey off of one of my hives a few days ago. its wildflower honey since there's no way to identify the source. i crush and strain it.

The best honey is harvested in your immediate area if you are using it for allergy prevention. Clover is very common and light in color for this area.
