Tires wheel fell off

   / wheel fell off #21
I'll add another post...once that wheel is re-installed and you've checked torque on all the wheel bolts (all four wheels), I suggest you consider torque striping.
Pretty simple...using a contrasting color paint marker, mark a stripe across the bolt to the adjacent wheel surface. As long as the stripes are aligned, your torque is OK. If they're misaligned, the bolt has loosened.

I like what the big rigs use. Arrows that snap onto the lugnut/bolt and points to the center of the next lugnut/bolt. If the pointer is not pointing to the next lugnut/bolt that lugnut/bolt has loosened and needs attention.

Someone should market these sizes we could use.

It just comes back to the fact that with the increase in TBN's members were losing some of the great things this board use to have and one of which is that we are all friends here. None of us know each other on such a personal level to be able to know if someone has learning disabilities where they have trouble with spelling, punctuation or even using a computer. Things we all take for granted to come very difficult for others and we should all be respectful of that when talking to each other. Help them, thats what TBN is for, not to make them feel bad or stupid :(

What I'm seeing on a number of forums is what I call "cell phone text"...poor spelling, inappropriate or unnecessary abbreviations...stuff you'd expect on a chat line or cell phone texting.
Seems like a lot of folks are taking those "shortcuts" (for lack of a better term) and forgetting, or too lazy, to use proper English.
Like I'd written...I do technical/procedure writing...and the lack of proper usage just doesn't cut it.

One of my classes was Technical Writing...there is no reason for such errors in a post.

None of us know each other on such a personal level to be able to know if someone has learning disabilities where they have trouble with spelling, punctuation or even using a computer. Things we all take for granted to come very difficult for others and we should all be respectful of that when talking to each other. I feel the need to chime in and support Robert_in_NY, and reinforce what he said. Some of us are good at some things and some of us are good at other things. There may be members that can't use the computer or use punctuation as well as others (or maybe they can, and it just isn't a priority for them). But these same members that don't post with the punctuation that some would like, might be very gifted in other areas where the great punctuators (not a word, I know) couldn't begin to be successful. Maybe this same person is extremely gifted in mathematics, or fabrication. If we criticize people for defects in technical writing, should we then criticize everyone that isn't up to our level on other technical areas, too? Isn't the intent of these forums to help other people?

The point is that none of us are are perfect at anything, and none of us are good at everything. There's a lot of smart people on here. This is no doubt one of the reasons TBN is so successful. But you shouldn't have to wonder every time you ask a question whether someone that's more educated than you will put you down for not being smart enough. Back to what Robert said - there may be members on here that just can't perform at the level that includes good punctuation. If that's the case, it's not their fault. I'm not saying this is an example here, but what if someone that has special needs posts on here and feels ridiculed for poor grammar or punctuation? If we had a special needs friend or family member, would we want that response for them? ...I think not.

If punctuation is that important, maybe it deserves its own thread on the Front Porch instead of calling someone out on a thread they started. So in that spirit, if my post starts a big debate, then please start a new thread in the right place and I'll be an active participant in that thread :). Otherwise, let's help the guy that has a comment about wheels.
