Ballast Wheel weights on a BX

I don't have wheel weights on mine bit the rear tires are loaded and it works fine. I due put an implement on the back when doing heavy loader work. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This has been on my mind for a while now, so I decided to go back to the manual and research it some more. At the bottom of page 42 of the BX22 manual, it says that "To avoid damage of transmission, do not use rear wheel weights and liquid ballast at the same time." At the top of the same page, it says "The weight should be added to the tractor in the form of liquid ballast."..... while doing some other reading of posts, I came upon a post that gave the location of retail pricing on the web for Kubota products. At the last page of the BX - Series Dealer Installed Options, it lists G8100A... "One Plastic Weight with Bolt Kit (Must order two for set) 53# $26.00@. They don't recommend them, but provide them to the dealers to sell them to people with BX tractors. On page 8 of the Backhoe Manual, it say "While BT600 backhoe is installed on the tractor, liquid ballast in the rear tires should be removed."
Sometimes, I wonder if the people that produce the tractor and accessories ever communicate with the people that write the manuals..... I also wonder if the people that sell these tractors ever read the manuals either. My dealer filled the rear tires and never mentioned this. If I were to follow all the instructions, I would need a separate set of tires for each operation of the tractors capabilities. Sure makes me wonder..... more questions than answers in those manuals...... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've said it before, and I'll say it again . . . use the EZ Weight system. You can put the weights on when needed in about 2 minutes, remove them in the same amount of time. May not be factory recommended, but they work and they work very well.

I did just what you are thinking about. Works pretty well for me, as the weights (in my case, old Cub Cadet weights repainted orange) were very cheap.

can someone explain how the transmission could be damaged by using filled tires on the tractor when the backhoe is installed on the tractor and not damage the transmission when the backhoe is removed? Why would filled tires with wheel weights damage the transmission when just filled tires wouldn't? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think the translator for the manuals didn't know a hst from a throttle. It would make no sense to remove the tires and or the liquid ballast when using the bh.
The weight of the ballast is in the tires and not on the transmission. The weight of the bh or other implement is on the frame and suspension......
Wonder what they smoke on break at Kubota central?
