Yesterday was our first good melting day too.

Smelling skunks is a good indicator that spring has arrived.

For sure. Just night before last the wife and I were driving up to the daughters house when she said "don't hit the kitty .. what the ... nobody has a cat around here anymore :shocked: DON"T hit the SKUNK"
I didn't, but the little twerp sprayed all over the snowbank as he climbed up over making his getaway while we waited.

I haven't seen or smelled any yet, but it's mating season and they will be on the move with this warmer weather.

Warm last night- at 7am it was 38F. Itis in the 40's now.
We are due for snow on Saturday I believe, but the temps are warmer than last week. The weather is topsy turvy - in extremes. Still a lot of snow on the ground.

Funny the difference in animals around. Here on the island of Newfoundland we don't have skunks, racoons or porcupines - coyotes have shown up over the last few years and at least one wolf confirmed. But we have increased number of polar bears in the north east area and lots of them on the mainland part of our province (Labrador) this year. Still enough snow here on the eastern part of the island to attract polar bears. Yesterday a seal was relaxing on the ice just a few k from my house. As I type it's snowing and blowing out there.

I suppose "cold" and "hot" are relative terms... but yesterday here in mid-Georgia it was 82*. 60* at wake-up this morning, so I'm expecting a nice day.

we finally had an 'avalanche' off the front roof of the house. Still waiting for on from the back and the garage. It was like an earthquake but very welcome.

Ever hear of mud season? Even though there's still 2 feet of snow on the ground, we've started mud season now. What a mess for us with dirt driveways.

In the 50's the past couple of days. Going to the teens tonight.

Well, I got my hopes up a little bit with a few warm days this past week but my hopes are dashed.

Latest report:
