When I'm not tractoring, I'm?

Re: When I\'m not tractoring, I\'m?

Here's the doors to the library. I found a magnificent piece of walnut at the mill and resawed it to 3/16" thick planks. I built the door frame out of poplar 1 3/8" thick, then skinned the poplar with the walnut. This allowed both doors to have the same color since all the visible wood came from the same plank.

Hey Rocky, the trick is to push 'em out of reverse before the dust cloud catches up with the intakes. A little dust will knock the "crud" off the compressor blades, which is good, too much and you erode the compressor blades and that's bad. The Herk was built for "doin' it in the dirt" as long as you use common sense and the flight manual. This procedure also keeps you from going IFR on rollout.

More than a few of those 19 hour Al/Pats (Alaska Patrols), over the Bering Sea, cured me of my love for the Hercs. Try lookin at nothing but water for a few hours. And of course ingesting hours of salt spray was always good for those turbo props. The good ol Coast Guard you just gotta love em.

Just curios from the size of those dust clouds, weir you pulling pitch for a max effort takeoff, and landing.

I am a Ground Rat of the E & I type. I got up close and personal with a shovel the whole time I was in the AOR. Nothing like doing something completely different than what you went to tech school for, eh? Actually, it wasn't so bad. Met some good people and made the most of it. Alot of people over there had it ALOT worse than me. At least nobody was shooting at me.

Re: When I\'m not tractoring, I\'m?

Hello DocHeb, I like to do woodworking in my spare time also. I know just what you mean by the "what year" comment. I'm currently building a chest of drawers for my Grandaughter. I picked a large one with all of the joints (including front rails, drawers, case top and bottom) being dovetailed. I want my Grandaughter to be able to pass this piece on to her Daughter or Grandaughter.
Anyway the reason I'm replying to your post is; I'm curious about the flooring. What research did you do and what complications if any did you run into? We want to put a wood floor in our kitchen. I've looked at different brands of flooring and haven't got too excited about what I've seen (especially considering the prices). I would appreciate any advice you could give me.

Thanks!

Gene
