Been looking around on ad sites trying to find a good used 5 ft Box scrape,
and came across a rather used up one, I can never seem to afford buying new so I thought this subject could be useful to those of us need to know what is too used to buy? I think with the picture posted it is quite obvious that this Box scrap has seen its better days, Look at the side plate worn down, BTW seller asking 250.00 :confused2:

Small pic, too hard to tell, but a fair welder can make it like new in a short time. Wouldn't expect much more for $250. :)

that's a 100$ unit.

it CAN be fixed and used.. 250$ is too high.

Too used to sell is when you cvan't fix them for the cost of a cheaper one..

A guy I work with just today bought a new 5' for $495. It is way more than twice that one.

I am with Soundguy on this one $100 bucks.

Where I live steel is going for about 46 cents a pound new, so for $250 in steel I could build a decent one from scratch. While the picture lacks much information this one can be repaired without too much cost. Personally I would only take it if it were free.

Yup, $100 tops
It looks like it doesn't have a curved cutting edge, just a flat one if it even has that. Too hard to tell by the picture.

You can buy a brand new one (light duty) with dual cerved cutting edges for $600 in Canada so they should be right around $450 down there.

Looks like a very basic design thats all used up.

Yeah I pretty much concluded that this one would not be in my interest, Just kinda speaking in general for all types of implements, Like what to look out for when buying a set of used harrows? or plows? etc, etc, and what to stay away from? I realize most farming tools literally last a lifetime, although they do have to wear out at some point and time beyond repair.. right!

Good implements are hard to wear out and in most cases last a lifetime. Poorly designed and poorly built implements are a poor investment and render poor results. Shop for good implements that need sprucing up, don't waste time on trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

that box almost looks like an old oxen I have.. and in about the same condition mine was. I paid 100$ and still use it today after a lil weld and torch work on it. Not an awesome box.. but a good beater. I scrounged up some mis-matched scarifire teeth for it too.
