Scotty, I think you're on to the right track. Just remember that your opener doesn't usually do all the lifting, the springs do. If you disconnect the top sections away from the bottom two and activate the opener you might want to help it some by manually lifting as well.

Well, we got er done !
I had the get one tractor in the story, so we used the 49 Super A this mornin to keep the bottom panel held down while I replaced the bad panel.
I just backed the tractor up next to the door and fit a scrap piece of 2x8 between the drawbar and the handle on the bottom of the door !
Now I have to stain the whole front of the garage to match the new panel !
The good news is that this is the year that the front gets done anyway !
