Hi All, yet another first time /rookie question from me.

Just got myself a set of disks. Ive targeted on particualr field to be re seeded (Hay)

my question is, whats the poular vote on when to start the process?.

Disk now /Seed now
Disk now/Disk again in the spring/Seed in Spring
Disk in Spring & Seed in the spring

or does it matter ?

Depends on what you are seeding. I like your second option the best. We disc-seed-cultipack. in the appropriate season. Ken Sweet

If you turn the soil over in the fall, either by plow or disk, and leave it rough, that is lots of clods, will help catch the winter moisture and get more in to the soil rather than thaw/melt/evaporate in the spring. Not only does soil worked in this manner hold moisture better, topsoil wont blow as badly with high winds when there's no snow/ground cover.

I like Disk now/Disk again in the spring/Seed in Spring for no other reason than more play time on the tractor. I'm stuck in Afghanistan and can't play on my tractor till Christmas.

I Like the 2nd option too.... also means I can try the disks now vs waiting
