Flail Mower Where can I find a front-mounted flail?

I would love to have Virismo flail on front of my M7060. I have looked into Zuidberg and LaForge systems and it is doable, but pricey. Maybe someday...

I think I put on twenty pounds since I stopped running after my Gravely front mount. The good news is that my broken ribs have healed from those handles hitting me when that mower struck something, one side or other.

never broke a rib from the handles, but I do use my sides/hips to help turn the Gravely. Jon

Leonz, thanks for the response. There are a couple CUTs that I've been looking at, but something like the JD2032R has an optional front hitch and front PTO. It looks sufficiently sized to handle a flail. Another bigger option seems to be the Kubota L60 with its front autohitch.
I sure don't want to pay extra for custom fit.

(I've been using a MF SCUT for ten years and I'm tired of being underpowered, low clearance, neck strain, etc. Time for an upgrade!)

Welcome to the forum,

Well as long as I am going to step on this cow pie; he does not know much about them or what they involve.

Unless you want to invest in a Ferrari or German brand articulating sub compact compact mule your going to have more work to do.

Does your mule have a midpoint PTO system? You have to find out first if your mule can be set up with a front mount three point hitch that will be attached to the engine cradle if it has one.

Then if and only if has a mid point PTO to run a reversing reducing gearbox that is attached to the three point hitch.

If your mule has a midpoint PTO for running a front attachment like a flail mower or tedder or a sensible three point hitch snow blower ask for a price providing you give them complete information about your mule.

1. Brand of mule
a. transmission type

2. engine gross horsepower/engine cradle width
a. Mid PTO horsepower
b. Rear PTO horsepower
c. Mid PTO speed RPM operating speed at recommended engine speed for the mid mount mower

3. front tire size
a. turf or lawn tread

4. hydraulic system volume
a. hydraulic system pressure
b all exposed engine or hydraulic hoses at or near crankcase sump
c. location of transmission cooling fan if used
If applicable:
5. mid point hydraulic cylinder
a. hydraulic cylinder bore
b. hydraulic cylinder stroke length
c. hydraulic cylinder rod diameter
d. hydraulic cylinder rod eye inside diameter
e. hydraulic cylinder barrel outside diameter
f. hydraulic cylinder attachment eye width
g. hydraulic cylinder eye attachment pin length

If you have one of the newer mules with the drive over mower decks that will have to be something that Pronovost will have to have your mule for to fit the hitch, hitch frame and mid mount propeller shaft to be sure there is clearance to allow safe lifting of a a flail mower.

You need to contact The Pronovost folks in Quebec, Canada to obtain price for a front mount power take off for a sub compact or compact mule as they are the only ones that build them as far as I know and there is a minimum mule horsepower they use that will determine if they make them economical to own.

When you get into farm tractors with front three point hitches your looking at buying a monster truck in aquisition and installation cost as they are powered by the crank shaft flywheel and are attached to the engine cradle and engine cradle cross member mounting plate.

Hold on to the smaller mule with the attachments you have and see what a bare bones 2032 with a cab would cost if you are in an area where you you need to clear snow BUT DO NOT buy their front mount snow blower, buy a three point hitch snowblower if at all possible so you can use it on the front and the rear.

Yes, I agree. The front flail for the Kubota 3560 is only available for the larger tractor that costs a significant premium over the JD 2 series.
Iowa Farm Equipment can import Peruzzo front flails that can mount on the JD 2s, which are less expensive than the Kubota flail and seem plenty capable.

But I'm not following you re the snow blower. Are you saying that the JD front-mount snowblower is not a 3pt?

That is exactly what I am saying hillfarm.

If your mule can handle a front three point hitch and can use the mid point PTO buy a three point hitch snow blower for it as the three point hitch snow blower will cost you less money.

If I could buy a single stage snow blower for your mule it would be a Reist Series 1000 front mount from Canada

You might want to check out John Deere's web site. The last time I looked their 59 front mount snow blower was set up for John Deere's front three point hitch on their 3X20 series tractors. I'm not sure if it's compatible with a rear three point hitch but it's definitely three point hitch

The middle PTO on most tractors I'm aware of is usually 2100rpm vs the rear PTO being 540rop (or 1000rpm on big machines). Nothing that can't be adapted or overcome, but is something to be aware of.

If you have a local Deutz-Fahr dealer then look then up.. a lot of Deutzs have a front PTO and 3PH and they usually know /sell the brands of attachments that can be mounted up front...

Granted most Deutzs are big tractors, farmers here are starting to love them because they can attach something up front and in the rear and save the time and expense of having to use a second tractor or doing a second pass..

Obviously you'll be doing smaller passes with two attachments rather than one since they rob horsepower but some of those tractors are 200-300 HP and have more than enough to run two attachments...

Hope this helps..

I've looked into getting my tractor with a front 3PH but without the PTO since I could run a blade up front and lpg or another blade in the back...

But then again a front mounted snowblower would be really interesting to have too....
