Where did the name come from

Always wanted to know how to weld and finally got the nerve to teach myself after my bride bought a little 110 AC wirefeed welder for Christmas two years ago. Now I am welding and still haven't figured out that it actually is work. So to me, welding really is fun.

I was born, grew up, farmed, and still own a farm located in the middle of about 2000 acres of red and black dirt in the middle of GA's Coastal Plain, which is mostly sand. We own 170 acres. Locals called this area the Red Level because of the red clay and the flatness of the fields.

There's a "Red Level" in Alabama too. It's about 20 miles NNW of Andalusia...

Hhmmm pretty interesting replies ! My screen name is not so exciting Scott is my real first name and Vt is my adopted state and my country property where I play with umm work my tractors ! I often tell people that I visit Ct durring the week and live in Vt on the weekends

And Scotty is a nickname my buddies over at the firehouse gave me years ago and it kinda stuck !

SGF is the airport designation for Springfield, MO. Since there are about a dozen Springfield's, I thought the airport code would be the easiest way to specify which Springfield I am in.

I'm a moderator on a large Nikon camera website. At the time I started doing that, my new camera was a Nikon N80. So I chose that as my username. Since then, I've just continued to use that as my username on various web sites just to keep things simple.

I wish it were something more interesting than that, like my CIA codename, or the experimental rocket I'm working on. Oh well.

Nickname from high school. I used it back in the day when arcade games only allowed three letters to identify the owner of a high score. Seemed logical to use it again when the internet came around. Asteroids!

I often thought about that profession, until I watched Marathon Man with Roy Schieder, Dustin Hoffmans' brother fighting an attacker who was trying to garrot him with piano wire ! That cured me !
