I just purchased a B6000 with FEL, and want to get a ROPS put on it. I need to find the serial number to use on the Certificate I downloaded from Kubota's site.

The decal on the frame that shows Engine Model, Tractor Model, shift pattern, etc. is badly worn, and I cannot see the serial number on it, nor in any other obvious location.

BTW, it appears to be US spec (ie not gray market) since all decals appear original and in English.

Thanks!
Kent

Serial number is not on that decal. its on the left hand side when sitting in the operator seat. down the side of the clutch housing about level with the decal you were talking about
i have a pic from the manual attached. hope this explians it better.

The decal you talk about displays tech info. engine model, gears, make, model, ect

good to see more b6000 owners /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif btw got any pics of it?

Thanks, guys. I found the serial number... B6000-82708. Now to talk to the dealer about ordering a ROPS for it. There's a certificate on the Kubota site that has a special coupon that shows the ROPS priced at $148.00 (normally $198.00), but says prices are subject to change -- we'll see what the dealer says...

This is my first compact tractor -- making the move up from old garden tractors and needed something with 4WD and a bit more strength... I'll get some pictures in the next few days, once it quits raining here.

Next item to find is something to act as a ballast box on the back, since it didn't come with one. I'm thinking a carry-all frame that I can load up as needed.

Another question for you guys though -- have you found any aftermarket attachments that will work with this rear PTO that turns backwards?

Thanks again.

Glad you found it. Sounds like youre in the same situation to me a little while ago. Sounds like yours works better than mine though!

Before i bought mine i looked into attachments. Zilch, zip, nada. Absolutely nowt new.
What kinda attachment are you looking for. We've come up with a few ideas of how to make existing attachments work if you wanna hear them.
you can buy a spline adaptor for $35 to make the PTO the right size and shape, but it still turns backward. for $400 apparnetly you can get a complete adaptor to make the PTO standard. i have seen one so they do exist, but no-one wants to sell one cos theyre dangerous (well duh, its a PTO??!!)
it might be worth getting to know a local machinist to make you one up. might not be too tricky or expensive.
Guy at work said you could change it by fiddling with the gears inside. Not too sure he knew what he was on about though /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Mine came with a topper that was correct for it, and therefore i have no need to look for attachments. Woods supposedly made a range of mowers and other stuff to fit on to them many years ago. Spread the wod you are looking for stuff. someone may be able to help. I know there is a guy on here who has every attachment imaginable for his B6000.

For the wieght frame on the back, either use the 3 point or mine came with a thing that hangs on the back, sitting on the tow hitch and fastened to the toplink holes. this is good cos you can take the linkage arms off so the tractor is less long (good for FEL usage) The pic shows it, the yellow thing with the tow ball.

Forgot to add, welcome to the forum! If youre gunna stick around why not fill out the profile a bit!

Thanks again -- I just updated my profile.

I just ordered the ROPS for it -- $148.00 plus shipping, after the rebate coupon. Should be in in 7 days or so.

Mine doesn't have a mount on it like yours, Mith. It has some type of drawbar plate that has a very large -- close to 2" -- hole in it, for attaching a chain, I'd guess.

The only PTO-powered rear attachment that comes to mind right now is a small, rough-cut mower. I bought it to help clear a 5 acre lot I just bought that's full of trees, and the rough cut mower might be useful once the trees are cleared.

neat going with the Rops, i guess you really need it with a loader.
im gunna go with the jumping off approach

yea mine has the hole, yellow thing in the pic rests on top of that and has a pin that holds it ontop of that. but anyway.

A roughcut mower may be fine running in the reverse direction. just make sure thae blades swing back in the rigt direction (probably able to turn them upside down)
i dont know how handy you are but im sure you could onvert a topper to the reverse direction. $35 for a spline converter may be OK.

cheers! (btw, nice pic)

Kent,

Mith beat me to the serial # /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif He gets up before I do /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

As for a cutter. I had a Woods 60" 3 blade finish mower on the B6000. I spoke to the dealer and found out they had two ways of dealing with the B6000. One was a revers gear box, the other was, they made two different sets of blades. Left and right hand rotation. Since mine was the type you could just replace the blades I ended up keeping it for use on my L3710.

I suspect once I start to use it, I am going to have to replace the bearings. After years of use in one direction my bet is they will fail pretty soon once they need to be used in the opposite direction. I may be proved wrong, but this is something to keep in mind. Good luck with the B6000, mine was a work horse.

Thanks, Gary for the follow-up and the tip on the Woods finish mower. While several people have said "forget about it, it's an obsolete piece of equipment," I just talked to Ken at Sweet Equipment -- they carry Big Dee rough-cut mowers and can mount them with blades that turn backwards also.

His concern was the size of the rear PTO shaft itself -- since putting an adapter on it might make too sharp an angle for the mower's driveshaft. I wonder if you could just buy a yoke for the smaller PTO shaft and use it instead of the standard one....

Yes, you can buy a yoke, i have seen one at the local Ag shop. dunno if youll have them around you. its just a part of the joint that fits on

Ha, Gary, beat ya. Its good to be able to help someone, rather than being helped all the time. more satisfying, ya know.
Thanks
