The Depot and Lowes I go to in Olympia have people running the departments that have been in the trade... and many are older... 20 to 30 years older than in the Bay Area...

Do yourself a favor and go downtown to Oly Supply. You won't be disappointed. Offer not valid on Sundays.

When I'm in town it is usually a short trip to make repairs... working over the weekend and nights...

I "Think" I've been there once and from your recomendation I will go back...

There was an ACE I liked in Lacey but I think it is no more...

The Lowes is in town and the Home Depot in Tumwater...

True story... I got to Lowes one night after they had closed... a water valve busted... I walked up to read the hours and saw I was 5 minutes late... one of the guys saw me and asked what I needed and he said wait here... the store manager opened the door and told me to get what I needed and rang me up... NOT in a million years would that happen in the SF Bay Area...

Another time I needed a refrigerator and McKinny was closed... also a weekend... went to Lowes and saw one that fit... but it was Saturday night and I had to be at SeaTac for a noon flight... Lowes promised to have the refrigerator delivered by 9 am Sunday morning and it was... wanted to tip the guys and they refused... put a $10 in the shirt pocket of each and locked the door headed for SeaTac...

Never happen at the Lowes up here in Port Orchard. I am getting more disgusted every time I go there. The Manager will not even meet with customers over complaints always send an assistant. You never see him on the floor like the previous manager a couple years ago. Last time even the assistant unloaded on me about the way things are, blamed it on corporate naturally. She did say they were short staffed as a number of knowledgeable folks have recently quit or retired along with the natural turnover an $11/hr job experiences. She also said most of there recent applicants have failed the drug test or decided they would not even take it. They are also in the throes of a massive inventory turn over to new brands. Nothing seems to get restocked.

I was afraid it might have just been my good luck in Olympia... sorry to hear service seems on par with the SF Bay Area...

What really impressed me is both stores had plenty of knowledgeable and helpful folks...

At the home Depot I needed to reset a post... concrete was somewhere else in the store and the person helping said he would just have it brought up front...

Just curious why you go to Tumwater HD and Lacey Lowes when there's a HD on Phones Road? Have you tried the new TSC across from Lowe's on Martin Way?

I'm out on Johnson Point if you ever want to catch a beer.

Hey! There is a town of Puget! I looked up Johnson Pt and found it. Haven't ventured in that neck of the woods yet.

I too had to look up Puget... I "Think" there is a marina there I have been to once.

As the crow flies we are neighbors... I buy my gas at Gull Harbor Mercantile... and yes they even have a small assortment of nuts and bolts...

Just a little market and station been around forever with nice folks so I like to send business their way... they will hold oversize packages which is a great convenience...

I just signed a long term rental agreement for my place... not sure when I will be back next... had mixed feelings as they check out great but it will limit my time... and Mom really looks forward to tagging along.

Know it well. I just retired from the FD this spring after 23 years. Meet you on the dock at Boston Harbor for a beer.

Puget City was actually platted in the area of Puget Marina back in the early 1900's as was Boston Harbor. Boston Harbor fared slightly better, but not much.

Hey! There is a town of Puget! I looked up Johnson Pt and found it. Haven't ventured in that neck of the woods yet.

I found this little gem online....

The prospective demand for town sites on the Sound, in view of the early
approach of the Northern Pacific, had inspired some little speculation in
outside enterprises. In April, T. I. McKenny and Geo. A. Barnes platted the
townsite of Puget City, being in Thurston county on the west side of Puget Sound proper, and being the James Burrows donation claim. The enterprise does not seem to have been a success.
In February 1872, General McKenny quit claimed his interest in the site to Mr.
Barnes, and in May 1873, at the request of Mr. Barnes, the plat was vacated.
