At that rate 60 tons would run you $3093.oo.)

You must have really heavy dirt where you live! 15 Cu Ft. is just over 1/2 a Cu Yd. So you're saying that your dirt weighs around 25 ons per Cu Yd.

I made a typo it should have been Cu Yds.
I wonder if IslandTractor didn' t mean 15 Cu Yds. instead of 15 Cu Ft.
If he's talking Cu Ft then 60 tons would run him a lot more than $3093.oo

Something doesn't add up there...

1 cubic yard is 9 cubic feet

15 cubic feet is 1.66 cubic yards

Using your 14.55 tons per 15 cubic feet would mean dirt is 8.73 tons per cubic yard. I think dirt is closer to 1 to 1.5 tons per cubic yard.

You've got your squares and cubes mixed up.

Again It's 15 cubic yards not 15 cubic feet.
3*More like .97 tons per cubic yard or 1940 pounds to be precise.

Yeah I screwed up too - a yard is 27 feet.

However don't count on the 0.97 tons per yard. It varies greatly depending on the type of soil and moisture content. Some dirt is mostly sand, rock, or clay other is mostly organic material. There's no way to be precise about it.
