Where do you mount your spinner?

Ditto - Made me think my steering wheel was on wronf when I first got my tractor. Took me a while but I finally realized that it was drifting around due to the hydraulic steering. My spinner started out at 6:00 and stays pretty close to there but not dead on.

I have a narrow front end IHC H tractor with loader - no power steering, steering wheel is about vertical. It has a spinner on it, & I use it all the time, with the loader. BUT I do understand those who are cautious, as it can be quite a jolt to the hand at times.

Anything with power steering works a little better with a knob on - combine & utility tractor have then & I use them _all_ the time. But the other 5 tractors don't have them, & I guess I was never motivated to put one on.

Humm. Now you all got me thinking......

I have PS on my machine and love my spinner. I know that in some applications it's not that big of a deal but for others it's been a godsend.

Just this morning (while I could still fit behind the steering wheel /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) I was cleaning out an old riding arena and doing a lot of starting, stopping, backing, turning, etc., with every bucket load. Using my fingers inside the wheel next to a spoke wouldn't have been nearly as easy or comfortable. Further, it would have been less efficient as I'd have had to go from inside one spoke to inside the adjacent spoke to change directions. With my spinner, I just change the direction the wheel is moving without sliding my hand around the wheel. I also notice this when I'm mowing and come to the end of the row. Using the spinner allows me to turn around more quickly and sharply with greater ease.

I never thought it would make anywhere near the difference that it has. I would highly recommend one to a friend. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I do... and should have mentioned that, I guess. To be fair, I'm not sure I'd even try one with manual steering. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a pull behind mower, and without my spinner, I would surely be working alot slower -- especially when backing up and also trimming around trees, etc. I use my spinner 98% of the time -- I highly recommend one.

Well, it's going on two years since I posted this question. I've been using the spinner since and recommend it. It gives much better control than a heal of hand operation which is what I did before intalling the spinner. Just a lot less likely to slip and it gives more specific control. I will readily admit that it is not a requirement, however.

I mounted mine on the left hand spoke, keeps it from wanderin' around on the wheel. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cliff the spinner is where I rest my hand on the wheel most of the time. It's an inexpensive mod that has really come in handy.
