I am getting closer to purchase a trailer to haul my tractor and things around. I am by no means looking for a cheaply built trailer just a good trailer for the best money.

I know in my neck of the woods we pay a slight premium price as most trailers are bought out west or south and resold for alot more money. So if I can find a trailer within a few states from me I might be an excuse to go on a short vacation.

I am looking for a bumber pull trailer that is rated for 5-7 ton, at least 20ft long, and a deck width of at least 7ft between the wheels. Would like a deckover if price is permitted. Also a tilt bed if price is permitted.

What brand do people prefer?

Is there anything else that I should look for?

I plan on doing some serious shopping in the next couple weeks and will list brands and prices in my area.
So maybe we can get enough people in different states to list prices so others looking for a trailers can find the best deal.

I have been contemplating upgrading my trailer, and have done some research using the internet. It appears that heading south or to the midwest will get you the best prices. Heading south from NY, it seems the father you go, the better the price. Southern PA is better, VA better still, and NC has the best pricing (although you'll have to research, many trailers sold in the south are skimpy on features, while most of the ones found locally are well equiped.)

Make sure the trailer you purchase meets your states requirments...Most trailers sold down south only have 1 axle brakes.

I did a lot of comparing before I bought and one thing is true, when all is said and done, you will get what you paid for.

Most likely a LOTTTT further then you want to go, but the county next to where I live, Lamar county Tx. seems to be the trailer factory capitol of the world. It is in the N/E part of Texas near the Okla. and Ark. borders. The 2 big plants are PJ trailers and Loadall trailers each with hundreds and hundreds of trailers in front of these factories. I'm told they will sell you one from the plant but I would check first. Then there are at least 50 smaller operations in the same area, these are usually guys who worked at the big plants and went out on there own. I know they sell from these smaller (1-20 man operations). They will also build one to your specs in about a week. The county seat is Paris Tx. but all the plants are in the rural part of the county. Just think of the stories you could tell your buddies about July heat in Texas, and you could tell your wife/family you are going to take them to Paris for vacation!
Good Luck! Jack

Tilt adds a lot to the price compared to a typical equipment trailer. Deckover shifts the load higher creating a higher center of gravity.

I would look for the trailer with as much US made components as possible. I like Dexter axles, brakes & tires. Avoid chinese tires. Look for radials. Avoid trailer where you see a front subframe below welded to the main frame. Look at wiring, lack of loom around wires, scotch locks, etc. I like a solar charger on the breakaway battery or a battery maintainer plug. Look for protected lights, lots of tie down rings, continuous rub rails.

Here are 2 manufacturers in Southern PA (just west of Gettysburg) that build quality trailers:

Bri-Mar Trailers
CamSuperline Trailers

There are no prices on their websites but once you look over the options you can call them and get a price over the phone. Both allow you to pick the trailer up at the factory which will probably save you money (both Bri-Mar and Cam-Superline sell nationwide through distributors but I'm sure the cost would be higher if you bought from a distributor in your area since they would need to have the trailer shipped).

I've owned both of those brands of trailers and they're both good, but my Cam Superline was built better.

any thoughts on Pequea trailers in PA? They seem like a good outfit. Not all that cheap though.
