Where is everyone?

/ Where is everyone? #21
Where am I? I'm sitting right here in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

If you mean, where have I been?

Busy, building a house. I'd love to post a bunch of pictures and bore you guys to death. Maybe when I get time on a rain day.

I'm a posting fool. I do it for selfish reasons to help me with my projects. There's just too much that I don't know and haven't considered, so getting input, both good and bad, is benificial to me and my projects.

I've also found that offering my opinion to a post helps me to better understand and learn about something that I may know a little about. Sometimes I'm totally wrong and enjoy it when somebody points out my error and offers the proper solution. It's how I learn things.

As to why others join, post for awhile and then quite, might have something to do with a lack of projects. I rarely have anything to say about a tractor, nor even read the various threads about the different tractors. To me, those threads are all the same and don't offer anything that interests me. How many times can you discuss the best color for a tractor and then support that argument? It's a short term conversation at best, and I think those who join just for there brand of tractor run out of things to say.

But a thread on a barn, a shop or just about any type of building will keep my interest. Working the land, taking out trees and building roads is always fun and interesting. I've learned things from people who have never done any of these things before, but ask a question that I have never considered. For me, that's what brings me back every day. Usualy twice a day!!!

There's only one person here that I've blocked and I find it to be allot nicer to not see his posts. It's a nice feature that has eliminated all my frustration with this person.

I wouldn't worry about those who used to post and left. There are so many new people joining here all the time with so many new and exiting projects that are making this site better and better. I've seen sites that are full of "old timers" and it's not that great a thing. They feel they are the only ones with a valid opinion just because they were on the site first. Never mind they don't know what they are talking about, it's just important for them to feel self important putting everyone else down.

I don't miss a single person that is no longer here, and look forward to all the new ones that keep joining. Let the old timers go there way and enjoy what they choose to do. It's not like we're short on posts or quality members.

I sure do. There are about a half dozen that left to take care of other aspects of their lives and I respect them for that. There are another half dozen that just went POOF! and can't be found anywhere on any of the other forums that they frequented, either. I sometimes wonder if they have become ill, gotten hurt or possibly passed away!? :( We had many a good conversation and I really enjoyed their takes on life. :)

Oh, yeah... I forgot to mention, Eddie... if you went POOF and the posts just stopped coming, there would be a heck of a lot of folks concerned about you, too. You've become one of the TBN icons with your family, hunting and earth moving stories. :)

Mossroad,

I can see how that statement of mine can be taken the wrong way. There are several guys that I'd love to hear from and know that they are doing ok, but havn't heard from in quite awhile. I hope they are busy with there lives and hopefuly checking in here from time to time.

That statement was meant to reflect my own personal desire to read new threads about projects people do with their land. Those who leave are not posting threads on projects that I enjoy and look forward to. When they leave, there is no vacume that I've noticed. The new members are coming on strong with new and interesting projects and a wealth of knowledge that just astounds me.

It just keeps getting better here!!!

I surely miss posts from some of the fellows that went "Poof". I often wonder what happened to them and hope all is well.

Now if only that fellow with the second smallest workshop, the fellow who built the teather ball court, the fellow who looked at stars and on and on would surface!

Still here, survived the surgery, then another one on the same shoulder, neither one of them accomplished a lot for me, Dr., and therapists made a few more Bimmer payments. Had a good garden this year, plan on a bigger one next year, taking care of my Mom who has dimentia, just got her in a nursing home last Saturday, so a lot of turmoil emotionally, but still able to get a little tractorin' in now and then. Only project now is a dump carry all, and fighting these endless leaves.

That makes sense. I forget there are folks from all over U.S. and world looking and posting here. I was reading a while ago about guy named Milkman that used to post projects and stuff a lot. He was supposed to be having shoulder surgery or something (that may be why he dropped out for awhile). Just wondering how surgery went and any new projects coming up. You folks up north have my respect. I don't see how you survive. But I probably have a view of it being snowed in all the time up there, which probably isn't the case. My dad used to be an over the road truck driver, and he thought it was funny how everyone outside of Texas thought we all still rode horses and such (this was about 30 yrs ago). Good luck with your tractor hunt.
How many horses have you went through since then?

Brian,

Just a point of semantics perhaps, but ...

Here at TBN, we do not call the behavior of our
most dedicated members an "addiction ..."

But rather...

DEVOTION :)
Got it:
Dedicated members are devoted to the TBN addication.

I'm here and read almost every day. Currently we are trying to build a house and I am still clearing land. This part has taken longer than I anticipated as i want to keep the land as natural as possible but take out any trees that may fall on the house. I have cut 30 trees over the past few months, cut a couple of roads into the building site and have about 15 more trees to cut. So I have lots of logs and pictures. I'll share the pictures soon but not the logs.

I like to keep up with all the projects everyone is doing and really interested in the barns/workshops/garages as I will be building one of these soon. But not having alot of time to post...just read. Not sure if what I post is worth reading anyway.
Now that the time has changed I will have a little more time during the week to post and try to get these pictures loaded so I can post my project.

TBN is a great group and I really enjoy the small glimpes of your life that is shared here at TBN.

I was wondering what happens that folks just quit posting. You can go back about 10 pages on any forum, and there will be folks that posted regular for awhile with good ideas, suggestions, projects, etc., then poof!! nothing from them anymore.

Simple, folks get busy. I know many folks just read and never post.

The vBulletin software allows that along with a members list. Obviously they are turned off for viewing. The member list can be accessed but not by any clickable buttons. And it does not show their last log in.
