Where is the serial number for my Ford 600

The manual says left side front of the transmission case but I am not seeing it. Am I looking for numbers in all the wrong places?

Left side of tractor (when seated facing forward) just behind starter. There is a flat area with two holes. On the flat area on top there should be two rows of numbers. Top line is model #, bottom line is serial #.

many times years of paint jobs obscure it. also on 59+ machines with diesels.. the area is many times pitted from battery acid..

This data is on a horizontal flat area on the transmission where the starter is bolted on. Mine is a 641.
