When shopping for a good quality battery , compare the weights . A good battery will weigh twice that of an El Cheapo and last 4 times longer . Once you have a good battery keep it fully charged . Use a Solar panel if need be , an undercharged battery will quickly Sulphate and die . By only ever using the top portion of charge it will last 10-12 years . If you let it get down where the load is drawing deep in the cycle it will only last 2-3 years . Do'nt sit batteries on concrete and do'nt leave your lights on as most batteries will only take being fully discharged 12 times before they do'nt come back . Marine batteries are a good choice as the plates are reinforced to take the pounding of the waves .

Stuck on NAPA gell filled (Optima knock offs) A little more money, but in the 7 years I'vebeen using them, not the first one has let me down. I have 3 that are 7 years old. Trying to recall, but I think there's 6 here altogether.

Personally out of all of the batteries on the farm that I have used, I have far and away the best luck with Interstate batteries. I put Interstate in all of my machines that take batteries. They are priced a little higher but not Optima price by any means and they seem to have distributors all over.

I get about twice the life out of the Interstate batteries than I do any other brands. (Kmart, Walmart, NAPA, Sears). I just changed one out of my pickup at 10 years, not because it went bad, but because I had to get a battery for something else and I for the life of me couldn't remember how old it was. I just remembered it was really old.

I'm a Interstate fan too. Also Interstate and Optima are the same company.

I like the NAPA Branded Gel/Spiral/whatever you want to call em batteries...I believe they are actually Exide Orbitals....Its what I've been buying (Good price)...and they have been great in all the vehicles we got em in..

Didn't know that. Interstate makes good batteries. Just none close to where I live. Also had good luck with NAPA.

I bought a Walmart battery for my 850 in 5/17/01 and it is still perfect. Never had to clean corrosion off the terminals and starts fine for plowing the driveway all winter in an unheated shed. At $29.96 back in 01 hard beat it. The series number is 24-5 on the slip I have no idea if the 790 has a smaller battery box, mine will take a much longer battery but this size works well.

There is a lot of chatter about manufacturers, but does anyone have a model number for the 790 battery? Am I overlooking it? Thank you.

The OEM battery on my 2210 lasted 8 years. I replaced it because of the constant leaking and corrosion and put in a nice, sealed maintenance free battery from NAPA.
