Where to get a seal that is "no longer available"

I'm working on a Ford 1910 tractor that ate the pto bearing and seal. Sourcing the oil seal is causing problems, as it is no longer available. it has P J 2304 o on it and a logo that looks like Amcs. I found a napa 15352 is the same size, but also not available. the bore measures 61.53mm, the shaft 39.93mm, and it's 12mm deep. The tractor was built in Japan in 1984.

see if you have bearing specialty shop in your town and take it in . Im sure one can be matched

Messicks ordered what was supposed to be the seal and I got the housing instead.

Like was said, most any bearing supply house should be able to provide a seal by dimensions only. Motion Industries is our local go-to place. You might be able to get in touch with them if a local business can't help you.:thumbsup:

When searching for a seal by size you will want the outside diameter to be slightly larger than the bore for a press fit. The inside needs to be smaller than the shaft diameter for a good seal. The depth or thickness can usually be off some one way or the other and still work okay.

A 62mm OD seal would give you a .018" press fit which should work since the rubber case has more give than a metal to metal press fit. You will need an ID of about 39mm. 38mm may be too tight but if the shaft has a groove worn in it you might get by with that. The depth cold probably 10 to 14 and be okay.

Converting millimeters to inches it looks like a Grainger number 35UC43 might work but it would only be .010" smaller inside than your shaft so it wouldn't have a great seal.
