I have two trucks and wish I had a second transfer tank.

Here you go Richard.....

Terry, I like that a LOT. Great place to store chains, blocks, etc. Low profile which I like. How many gallon is it? I've never saw one like it.

Wish you were my neighbor. We'd be in negotiations right now. :)

I bought this setup used for $400. Holds 55 gallons. But I don't carry a toolbox like the OP. Were I in his shoes I'd sell that tank and buy one that goes under the toolbox.

Richard that is an 80 gallon baffled tank. I built it low like yours to keep it below the trucks rear window. 3/16 inch aluminum tread plate lid to keep it dent resistant.

Here it is in the truck I recently sold.

Very nice. Only thing I'd want different would be fill cap next to the pump so everything could be done from one side. With it like yours I'd be parked on the wrong side of the refuel pump every time.....

That is one thing nice about building your own. We all have different needs and preferences.

I personally liked filling the tank from the passenger side...

but having the pump/filter/meter directly behind the drivers seat so vision wasn’t obstructed. (I realize you dont have this problem with your setup)

A twenty foot fuel delivery hose pretty much met my needs.

I put my 100 gal transfer tank on a pallet. So I can put it in the back of the pickup to fill, or take it to where the tractor is, or put it on the trailer, store it in a shed, whatever is needed.

Trailor vote also.

Is it a tilt bed trailor ?

Just curious if it could be mounted aboard the 2 inch square tubing that the winch is mounted to. Other words in between the winch and spare tire. Going to have to rig up some mounting brackets and whatnot anyway. Or better yet mount the tire in between the fuel tank position in the mockup and the winch. Basically raise and reverse to the rear the tire mounting bracket.

Can tire be mounted on side of trailor ? Should not hang out past fenders. Just personally would hate to mount and remove a spare tire from under the trailor. Bound to be a bad spot on the side of the road, etc.

Deckover power tilt dog perch

There is plenty of room under the deck clear of the hydraulics to mount the spare. If I go that route, I'd grab one of the spare tire winches off a dead truck or get a new one for $50. It will be a bit awkward to crank up or down, but it's not like I deal with spare tires much. Tilting the deck up, depending on what's on it would make it easier. It will also keep sun off the tire. There is 3' of room under the deck. More room than on the F350 that has the same type of carrier. May or may not be easier to get to the crank on the F350 depending on how I set things up.

Trailer is wide enough I dont want to go any wider. As a deckover, there really aren't any fenders. Close to the width limit anyway I think.

Reciever for the winch isn't welded in yet, but will be soon. Transfer tank is probably the next project after that. I've been wanting to leave as much room as possible at the front of the deck to prevent bumping into anything when loading stuff on the front of the deck.View attachment 664468

Both of my tanks are also on pallets. Rarely haul them in a truck or trailor but can if needed.

I do that with nearly everything. In this case, the 5th wheel hitch frame would play the part of the pallet. The puck mount means you throw 4 levers to mount or dismount it. As they are rated for 20k+ lbs, 350lbs of aluminum tank & 36 gallons of diesel should be plenty secure. Unlike a pallet you'd have to otherwise chain down or something.

There is maybe an inch between the tool box & the front of the inner wheel well so it can't scoot back at all. All the transfer tanks that mount under a toolbox also take up 12" or so in front of the toolbox. As my 36 gallon tank is only a foot or so front to back, moving to a big L shaped tank wouldn't buy me much. I could get a smaller toolbox, but it's pretty full already.

Photo of the tank bolted into the bed if the old F250. With the 8' bed & service body toolboxes everywhere space wasn't an issue. It was also only the beater work truck. Now the F350 is my main truck. Pump on the tank died & got replaced under warranty. I haven't mounted it yet as its heavyish & there is no need for it while I'm prototyping. Easy to mount it on either side. Probably the passenger side so I can fill the tank & truck on the same side.View attachment 664481
